you better beleive it. and i wont go into the "how" but i managed to score a brand new lower intake manifold as well.

I'd like to point out that the saying "a redline a day keeps the carbon away" is the absolute truth. the aux port valves were completely free of carbon on the old manifold

We've been crazy busy the last little while, so the car is only halfway back together because well...employee cars arent priority. so likely tuesday i'll be driving it again and i really cant wait

Greg!

Great to see you're still around.
Curious, was there something wrong with your original engine? Or is this something you scored for cheap??

Hopefully see you sometime this season.

i notice you do it the mazda tech way of lowering the hole sub-frame figured you'd be doing it over the top and out the hood way that many on the forum feel is superior.

i dont know anything about that...this seems like the most logical way to go about it when you have a hoist and a tranny jack/table like we have. i figure there is about 2 hours of work left to do on it. warranty pays 11 hours for the job and we are in it about 6 so far so...seems pretty decent to me. and time has been spent on applying antiseize to every bolt and torquing everythign by hand.

neo, its a long story. the old engine wasnt completely toast by any means, but it wasnt perfect. now it is. a compression test showed it was under spec and a vacuum voltage test sealed the deal and mazda sent an engine over. i was very suprised, it only took about 2 weeks to get here.

Hey Greg!
Excellent news on the replacement motor.
My 8 has been gone now 5-6 months. Hope the buyer is having fun...till the chain breaks again,

I've turned into a torque ***** with the G though. I've not tired yet of the sound of it either.

as in bicycle chain? as in has to wait for dad to come home from work and fix it before you can play with it again? if so its why its so important to fix your own issues when possible cuts down on down time.

Just an expression...
Purchased the 2010 G37S M6 in Baltimore. Flew down on a Sunday morning and drove it back across the border Monday morning. Saved ~$15K all in. You too can be a torque *****.

alright, engines in and purring like a kitten. what a difference. its so much smoother than i remember. it idles like such a champ and it starts soooooooooo easily now. and i thought all those things were fine before. it feels like a brand new car. The car is still going to be for sale, but a large part of me is hoping it wont sell now. haha.

and ted, very ncie car. My biggest beef with those cars is the rear suspension. if its the same as a 350/370z (which i would assume yes as its the same platform), its beasically the same as their altima suspension in the back accept with axels running through the nuckles (theres a plate bolted over this hole on the altimas). Its just so....economical....oh well. it looks very ncie and im sure all that torque and worry free starting is lovely. I wont lie, if you wanted to trade me straight up, i would concider the offer. lol

Great to hear about the new engine, so is it still up for sale. After all that it has to be a keeper.

well yes and no. i mean, nothings changed really. the negatives of the car to me were the high monthly payments, highish insurance, and poor fuel economy. a new engine doesnt help any of that in the slightest.

it makes it a little easier to overlook those things, but the fact is, im still living with my parents and that wont change unless i can sell the car...or wait until next summer until i have my AST license and will be possibly making a decent living....hmm...

It's a tempting offer Greg but I've grown accustom to it's fuel economy (outstanding considering its 330hp), that, and my insurance went down a couple of hundred a year.
