Importing a US RX-8 to Canada
Does anyone know what modifications I will need to make to my US RX-8 in order to Import it to Canada? I know Daytime driving light is one item is there anything else? I am working in the US on a VISA and will be coming back and will want to take the car with me. I am about to put allot of extras on the car and will not want to sell if I don't have to.

Check out the MTO site, as they have a list of cars that can/can't be brought into the country. If your car can be brought here then it'll have a list of what it needs or will refer you to the shop you have to bring it to for inspection (for some reason IIRC it's Canadian Tire of all places that does the inspections,) and they will tell you what it needs.
Hope this helps.

I found the information I was looking for, Thanks. It looks like only minor modifications will be needed and allot of Taxes to be paid! I hope I won't have to come back to Canada for another few years even tho it is my Home it still incredibly hard to live there as the Tax's are so incredibly high.

Go to this website www.riv.ca to read all about importing into Canada or better yet download this pdf and read the list.
http://www.riv.ca/english/US_vehicle_admissibility.pdf
You will notice that the RX-8 is not restricted and from what I can tell no modifications are required.
When you import a new car, you are correct, you have to pay GST and PST and Duty Tax. If the car was built in North America then no Duty.
I looked at this option because I wanted a Black with Red Interior, (an option not available in Canada) and the total to bring the car in was about $5,000 more then buying here. Conclusion, its cheaper to replace the black with red leather then it is to import.
