Just had the Supercat installed....

Blah....

Slight and I mean slight increase of sound in the cabin. Tone coming out of the stock exhaust has a little more beef.

Butt Dyno says F'all

Mechanic at the shop said they had a bitch of a time removing the O2 sensor. The bottom threads had been melted. Guessing this is from the Nitrous.

I'm just saying but most cars can get moderate gains from bolt-on products. If I had have known that the only way to get anymore power from this car was to go N2O/SC/TC ....... ..... I can honestly say I might not be in the RX8club today.

I honestly wonder how many people would be in the same vote? MMMMmmm

^ Fair question but I didn't buy the 8 expecting to add a lot more HP to it, just wanted sportier handling/ride, sportier sound and better throttle response. The bolt ons are really helping in that respect, so I'm a happy camper with my 8 and I'm not done ywt If I wanted quite a bit more HP, I probably would have bought something else.

Looks like I can come to this meet as well... work's lightened up a bit. Heh.. I might have to borrow a jack from someone for a bit though.. need to swap out my intake for the stock... should only take about 45-60 minutes

As for the lack of grunt of slapping on aftermarket stuff... I know this up front and I'm still looking at the 8. the RX was built for the twisties.. not so much the straight line speed. I mean.. in theory you could go with a 350Z and it would kick the crap outta it in a straight line.. but the second that you get them on a track.. it's a level playing feild. I guess it comes down to what's more important to you.. straight line grunt or going around corners quickly.

PS: the rotary still sounds better too :D

Ever since I first saw an FD I knew I wanted a rotary. The 8 is in my little way, a fulfillment of a dream. Yes, I knew it'd get horrible mileage. Yes, I knew I couldn't so easily get more power. Yes, I knew how finicky it would be. And yes, I knew the resale values are crap... but you can't put a price on love

Lots of cars will spank an 8 in a straight line, but who cares? The twisties are so much more fun anyway. That and I love the high maintenance women :D

The RX feels plenty powerful when taking on the corners with the revs up!

I'm attending a get together at my Mom's so I'll be leaving early.

Pos, can you pm your address?

Thanks for the feed back guys.
First let me say I agree with all your points, however you have missed one. A big one in my opinion and it was the main reason why I bought the car.
Simply put, I love it because not everyone has one.

I did know most of the drawbacks coming into my purchases (well not the crap resale it was too early in the 8's life cycle for that) but I still thought there would be a world of bolt-ons for it that would provide significant gains.

That being said I don't regret buying the 8 at all.

Now I just got back from the test track (eerr yeah) to give the ol'nitrous a try. And well ...
I'm impressed, I could feel and hear the difference. During spray the engine sounded very smooth and strong. Before I would get a pronounced low gurgle or growl sound. Actually its the same growl that my car has always had but it really awakens under spray. That noise has seem to dissipate.

Well if this mod works as well as it felt today under boost, I'll say it's 100 percent worth it.

Can't wait till the next track day.
Dyno-time next week boys! Keep your fingers crossed for 205 NA and 255 N2O

Yeah, I think thunder snuck that in there well.

Unlike you people, I have to drive the Miata in the winter. I can't afford to lower it. I live in freakin Aurora. We get alot of snow during the winter months.

On the bright side, I think I'll be getting Mazdaspeed sway bars to alleviate some of the roll she's got.

Me too, I'm going to go get the mazdaspeed sway bars as well. Unfortunately, I'm not fond of the mazdaspeed springs/shocks combo

MS sway bars + AFE short shifter FTMFW!!!!

Guys, if you put all the money you spent on smaller bolt ons, it wouldnt be that much of a stretch to go Force induction.

I am seriously considering boosting the 8 and run low boost for everyday cruising.

the greddy kit is around 5 - 6 k and then there is about 3 k in tuning and other parts to get it to work properly.......so about 9- 10k or a properly tuned turbo rx8.......same for the supercarger....pettit sells it for about 7 plus install and tuning.....I've spent 3500 total on my car.

JRP sells the greddy Turbo outright for 3800 + Tax.

Billy at tires 23 will sell it for 3800 taxes in and he gets it from JRP.

PLus 750 for the AP and another 500 for tuning and Misc parts. You can install yourself or pay 5-800 to get it installed.

around 6000.
