Interesting tire pricing.
It's a jungle out there when it comes to tires, I will replace the stock Dunlop tires that were on my 8 when I purchased it a month ago before Spring arrives. I have done a lot of searching and an 8 owner in town here suggested buying new tires in the States so I checked it out.
On a particular tire from Tire Rack the cost was $ 552.00 ( set of four ) same tire here from a local dealer $ 786.00 + taxes + mount and balance for a total of $ 948.00. With the tires from the States the shipping charge was $ 168.00 + duty, taxes, fees etc. grand total delivered to my door 829.00 U.S so I added 10% exchange and $ 18.00 per tire for mounting and balancing and the " cheaper " tires from the U.S. costs me $ 984.00 ,,,,,,,,,,interesting.

You have to get them yourself..the brokerage fees and into Canada shipping will kill you

If you can secure a US shipping address, ordering them online from the US is the way to go cost-wise. There's a company in Montana that will do this for BC and Alberta. Depending on how far you are from the boarder it could be quite worth your while.
That's what I'm doing. Locally, the tire I am getting is $350 each. TireRack has them for $150. So instead of paying $1400 + mount and balance my order came to $750 + mount and balance + $30 fill-up of gas to get down there.
Tire prices are seemingly quite high in Canada. I imagine some local places probably have to order their tires from the States and that's what drives the price here, maybe?

kijiji is your friend. i have a large family and we all get our new/used tires there.
i just picked up a set of Pilot Sport A/S Plus for $800 new which usually cost around $1200 before that i got a set of Yokohama AVS ES100's for $700. i've also found some 5/32nd tires for 20 bucks a piece.
it amazes me how many people just shell out $1500 a set while with a little bit of looking around can be found much cheaper
