Finally I heard from my dealership in Ajax today that my 8 is in and I can pick it up on Wednesday. This has been the longest 3 months of my life....especially the last two weeks that were "delays" in BC apparently.

Now just a couple of sleepless nights and she'll be mine..

Managed to sequeeze one of the two rotary crests out of them for the delay and inconvenience and got the other one at cost...not bad.

I'm in Philly all next week on business (I kno...don't say Philly right now) and I think I'll find it pretty tough convincing her after 4 days there that I need to spend another 3 in Ottawa. She knows I love this car (and don't even have it yet) but gone the first full weekend...might be a strech.

Sounds like our cars were in the same shipment...I should be picking up my wife's car today. Not sure who is more excited about her new car, her or me.

I did a mere 300KM the first day visiting friends and family. While the mileage sucks.....who cares!! It's a damn sports car and I own it!

My question. When does the extreme paranoia wear off. I'm terrified every parking lot I go into? This is worse than the first car I ever owned!

Congrats on finally getting your 8. I'm still waiting for mine, I'm hoping it was in the same shipment from BC. It'll take them a few days to get it trucked to Belleville, I'll call on Monday to find out what's going on.

Do you know if it came with the M flash or do you have to take it back to get them to update the ECM?

They said they did all the "upgrades" and recalls. How can I check?

I need to go back in a week or so as my rear mud flaps were on back order. Maybe I'll check with service rather than the sales/business manager then.

That sounds promising. There should be a sticker on the inside of the hood with a bunch of letters and numbers, if one of the last of them is M instead of L then you probably got the M flash in Hiroshima or perhaps in port in BC. If the dealer did the upgrade, then there should be a sticker either on the side of the driver's door or suicide door with the M on it, or you may apparently find the sticker inside the ECM. It all sounds a bit inconsistent.

I didn't see any stickers/indicators on drivers door or the suicide door indicating another other than the VIN and the production date (which was Mar/04...which is what they showed/told me...good!).

I checked under the hood and only found one sticker with a few letters/numbers but a big "J".

Pardon my ignorance but I don't know what/where the ECM is? Does anyone have any pictures that could help?

I'm assuming it's the J flash and if so I will be going back to them...but not as nicely as they would like. I asked twice if ALL the upgrades, recalls, etc were done and they assured me that they were. I smell a few free oils changes coming.

I'm sure it didn't leave Japan with the J flash, but if it did, I'm sure it would have been updated before it got to you. Don't think you'll get any free oil changes here. If the dealer said you have all the upgrades, you most likely have the M flash. He probably didn't mention it specifically because you didn't ask.

As I mentioned, it is a bit difficult sometimes trying to figure out which software version you have. There is a brake tapping test but as far as I know, this doesn't distinguish between L and M. If you can't find any sticker showing what version you have, you may just want to call the dealer to make sure you have M.

I was just curious as to whether RX8s are arriving with the M flash now, or if the dealer had to do it.
