It's That Time ....
It about that time for me to put away the Rx8 for the winter. With the experience I had last year ... i'm not willing to take anymore chances.
This year I picked up a little 1995 Civic hatchback. Slapped on some winters. I like the fact that I won't have any worries about anything happening to the 8 this time around.
Anyone else putting their 8 away? If so , what are you driving for the winter time.
Cheers
Pete

I am putting my 8 away for the winter as well. Currently looking at a storage place. I drive a '98 Honda CR-V. What happened to you last winter?

Ya i've been contimplating on whether storing it or just putting on Dunlops with Rims. I have a corolla 4wd (with winter tires) I use just for work. Might be a PITA to run the 8 in winter. With my hard cold startups already.

Im running mine in the winter, half considering getting a clear bra solely for the winter though, as Im lowered with INGS front and sides... and we all know how rough salt and sand can be from the roads.
What do you guys think?
I have enough rock chips down there already to justify a painting, but If I can stop any more damage they hey, why not right?
Im definately driving it in the winter, I just need a method of futher paint protection!

if you don't have the 3M protection on your hood, defintely consider it! I argued with my dad to get it on his new car (back in '04) and he didn't. Now he regrets it and pushed me to get the clear coat. It's around $100 I'm guessing to get the clear coat on?

Put 50 coats of wax on it and then reinforce it with Kevlar JK .. I don't think there's much you can do except get it repainted!

Well, for me, its not so much a question of fear..I have had plenty of experience driving in Alberta's worst winters...its just that you can't really account for what other road users do during winter...and with my 8...don't really wanna take that chance..hehe..

I'm not looking forward to driving it this winter. I had parked it the two previous winters but my wife if finally getting her license and will drive the 90 Camry (previously my winter beater). Anyhoo, I got it Krowned under spray and slapped on the winters last weekend.
Like many people have stated, I'm not shy to drive in the snow, it's just the other people I have to look out for (sorta like riding a motorbike in the summer).
I did notice when I was switching my winter tires that the stock potenza's were showing their age, so I have to add summer tires to my wish list this xmas.

Not one of the accidents were my fault. It's not how you drive in the winter. I'm sure your a great winter driver, and you take the percusions by buying winters. I respect that.
But remember that a lot of people don't buy winters, and drive like they have them .
For me it was worth to buy a winter car, slap on some winters and let my baby rest

ouch..Pete, that sucks dude. Like I said before, even though I have had experience driving in winter, you can never plan for other drivers thats why my 8 is tucked away safe and sound..good luck this winter!!!
