Good price on the battery. Question tho, is it pretty well the same OEM battery that came in the 04, 05 8's or have they upgraded?

Well essentially you could lol, but might get a wee bit costly.

So is it running smooth or not?

They aren't able to get the plugs in until tomorrow. Al said they were swamped. The drive home today from Burlington to T.O. was BRUTAL. I was in the civic and slid a few times.

I need my winters on the 8 ASAP. Al, what's the cost on a set of steelies? I can't wait to get the damned lug nuts for the rims. It's snowing now.

LOL. So that's why they had cables hooked onto your battery when they were diagnosing it.

Thanks guys! So Al, what's the cost of a set of steelies for the 8? I've got tires and rims but no nuts.

No steel rims left sold out only thing we may have left is 17X6.5 Mazda 5 alloy wheels youd have to talk to Steve in parts about that 416-752-0970 ext 245.

Battery is good eh good stuff, still strange with the symptoms you got. That's awesome a worker there stayed late and Al is updating you via this site!

Since Al is out of steelies, just a fyi I have the steelies from Can Tire and they worked great last year.

are you serious that you are gonna buy steel wheels and pay to have the tires removed and mounted on them because you dont have the wheel nuts fro the alloys? im sure you can get them somewhere...no "performance parts" stores in yoru area? hell, even a part source would be able to order them from robert thibert (a supplier that most local parts stores use) and get them in a day or two tops. thats if they dont have something in stock. i hate my steel wheels. they look hideous. too bad christmas is coming up...cant really justify spending the money on wheels for myself this time of year. especially if its something i dont acutally need. good luck though.

Cheers Greg. Yeah I'm just in panic mode to get the snows on. This'll be my first winter with the 8 so I'm not sure how she handles in the white ****. You're right about the steels though. They look like *****. They arent as bad on a black though...I'll just have to find the lugs

I drove home in my summers tonight because my rear diffuser finally got put on. I didn't want to, but I was forced to. She's now in my garage and all warm... but getting home was kinda hair-raising.

I can imagine. It was "hair raising" in my civic si and its front wheel drive. I hate this crap. How does the 8 handle with snows on?

I haven't driven one with snows, so I have no idea. From what the guys say, it seems to be pretty decent. Hey, you have navi... what year is your DVD from? :D

It's gotta be from like 1059 BC. The fuggin things old Thief. I would LOVE to update the thing but I heard it's like $600 or something stupid like that. Hell, once I get to like Orillia, the thing cuts out and wont display streets or it shows youre in the middle of lake Simcoe. LOL

In another thread there's a point made that the 04's had 2002 maps. They also said Mazda wanted $800 for an updated DVD. Ridiculous. There's gotta be one on bit torrent....lol

finding the lugs is the cheaper and likely quicker solution. the shops that can do tires for you are gonna be so backed up. beleive me i know. all this week ive been skipping my lunches and staying 1-2 hrs late to try and stay on top of the winter tires for our customers. now that this first real snowfall is here, tomorrow is gonna be a zoo, i know it. the service and parts guys were telling me they had so many customers call for winter tires when the snow started falling today and then complain when they couldnt have them installed tomorrow.

also, dont worry to much about the 8 in the snow. this is my first experience in the crappy stuff in my 8 and my first impressions are pretty good. it seems the car isnt as horendous as i thought it would be. It feels pretty steady so long as you are very very very careful. feels like alot of its behaviour is completely up the driver unlike chevy s10 and other small pickups. those trucks can be a nightmare. but in the 8 braking and turning is much like any other car unless you get on the gas during a turn. its very predictable (unless you are on the throttle while you are turning which is obviously a bad idea in this type of car). not like all the s10s and ford rangers and the like that ive driven in the winter...they feel like they are just dying to spin out even if you are being careful as can be. However, the 8 is RWD, so you dont get away with screwing around at all. The limited slip helps you not get stuck, but it means the back end breaks loose very quickly when it happens. My biggest worry about the winter is how im gonna redline my car once a drive. I mean, i was breaking the tires loose in 4th at 50km/h on the cleanest road we had in guelph. lol.

Greg

Trust me. I've looked. I'm trying anything... and I don't believe a DVD out of a Mazdaspeed 6 will work now either.

It's not bad as long as you have some good snow tires on and go easy on her!!! Do you have DCS/TCS? I wouldn't drive the car in the winter without that feature personally. Man can it save your ***, and love hitting the gas for fun and have the back end swing out and the DCS/TCS kicks in and you are running straight again luv it!

Ya as Greg mentioned only problem is redlining it ever day in snowy winters As soon as it is dry out and I'm going for more than a 10 min drive I make sure to redline it.

LOL, I had to to that last night. I think anything over 4-5K ROM last night got me squirrelly enough. I wasn't about to try a redline in it.

yeah, I cant wait to get the 8 out into the snow. I'm guessing the winter tires will make a huge difference though...now if I could only find these damned lugs...
