K&N Typhoon Short Ram

Hey Guys/Gals;

Just got an e-mail from K&N telling me the Short Ram intake is now available for my Automatic RX8 GT anyone have any opinions on it??? I had a K&N Cold air intake on my BMW 323i and I loved it. Should I get on for my RX8 or wait till something better comes out??? This is my first rotary so I have no clue what is good and what is bad for my new baby!!!

Let me know!!

I wouldn't bother. Aside from it likely not providing any benefit on the auto RX-8 (since it doesn't have to breathe at as high RPMs as the 6 speed high-power engine), the RX-8 stock intake setup is very well optimised from the factory, so there is actually very little extra power to be gained by an after market intake. Further, I believe that filter to filter, better flow always equals less filtering - in a racer where the engine only has to last a few thousand miles, great, but in my street car that has to last hundreds of thousands of kilometres, I'm not willing to make that trade-off. I had a K&N drop-in filter in one car; I won't waste my money again.

FWIW,
Gordon
