Kilometers on new car?

Kilometers on new car?
Quick question for you all...
How many kilometers did you have on your cars when delivered?
and if you're bored, you can read about my buying experience here in Montreal, and understand why I'm asking the question.
When I signed the papers, it said 10km. I said 'Great!'. Once I got outside and drove it off the lot, I noticed that it read 80!
"Just off the flatbed from the car yard my rear end!"
Plus, the tires were all worn and dirty (I had snows installed, so I had to pick up the summers) - definitely not directly off a flatbed. (read my quote again). I guess the reason why my car was delayed a week and a half (although they swore that had it in stock when I signed the offer) wasn't because it was held up due to the CN rail strike as they said, but because people were test driving it in the summer tires at the end of February!!!! I hope you guys enjoyed my TGray GT 6Speed!
I don't really give a hoot, because the car will still be enjoyable, and I probably won't notice a difference. I also have 6yrs bumper to bumper warranty and will probably sell the car in 4 (for a shiny new one, I hope!!!)
I don't believe in wasting my time nit-picking or haggling, but I do believe that truthful salespeople and dealerships should be rewarded, and the others should not. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a Mazda dealership with people that I would buy from again (second Mazda).
...and so finally, after I gave the salesperson the look, and the "what's your explanation?" he called me back to offer to take the summer tires back an give me a new set. Great. He's going to shaft somebody else. And he swears that somebody at the car lot must have driven it for 80km. Yea right.
If everyone tells me that the kilometers was about that level when they purchased their "new" RX8s, I'll eat some crow, apologize for my hasty conclusions, and try to be more "understanding". :-)
Otherwise, I'll complete my factual account and tell everyone where I bought my car. You all can make up your minds yourselves. Isn't this the power of the internet, and forums?

I'm trying to remember. I think mine had 7 km on it, but it might have been 9.
Then again, I got the dealer to drive me to the autoport to pick it up, since they couldn't get it shipped up by car carrier that day ad I wasn't going to wait until the next week or let one of the dealers drive it clear from Halifax.
From the discussions when the first cars came out, no car should really have more than 10 or 15 km on it when it reaches the dealership. At least that's what we were seeing.

Mine had 26 km, i think it had one test drive before me, and I guess the other person didnt like it as much, cuz i got it
But I have driven by the lot which new cars arrive off the boat, and yes it is big, but not enough to get 80 km on it, unless the people which took it off the boat were screwing around for a little joyride. which might have happened.
If ya have to, and this thread helps you make your point, see if you can get some upgrade stuff for your car for free, hehe

Great stuff! Keep it coming!
Hey, you guys are great!
I really appreciate your feedback. Especially dru8999's 9km picture. Now I wish that I had done that (good hint for people picking up their cars). In the excitement of it all, stay focused and remember to check everything!
Not bad for 1 day - this site Rocks! I'm sure that we'll get more posts on the weekend, unless everyone is out driving or polishing their cars
:D
The numbers thus far are pretty diverse, and pretty interesting. Perhaps the rarity of the RX8s makes it harder for the dealers to spread the test driving among many different cars.

Mine had about 80.
BUT, 20 was from my test drive.
So 60km. I know the car was test driven, it was driven by a guy on this forum, it had 40Km when I first saw the car.
Then when I went to do my test drive it had 60, this was AFTER I had bought the car, they wouldn't let me drive it till I had bought it.
The dealer took it for a joy ride and course would not admit it.... It didn't really bother me that much though.
I guarantee you car was either test driven or taken for a joy ride, 80km is way too much.
I wouldn't worry about the tires, 80km isn't going to hurt them unless they were smoked then I would be more worried about the clutch than the tires.

about 3:1 so far
I appreciate everyone's feedback! I wonder if we'll get more people voting (lots of views, though). I'll give it a few more days.
Possible low voting because RX8 owners in Canada are a rarer bunch. I've only seen 1 other RX8 on the road in Montreal (it was Ti-Gray like mine), aside from a couple coming and going from the Mazda dealership.
It'll be great to see everyone else out, when the weather's warmer. People still haven't seen many RX8's out there, so they all stop and do a double-take. And that engine sound is just amazing!

52 km
I had 52 km on mine...just about the exact distance from the rail yard in Markham to the dealership in Newmarket....the Mazda 3s were just arriving when my 8 showed up and I would have waited a week to get it....I told them to drive it! Anything above that would have been deserving of a smack in the head!!!
