less than 300km on a tank!?

I just got less than 300, usually around 320, never as high as 350
Pretty much all city driving, 20km to work, speed limits of 60kmh, occasionally push it to 80 try not to since I got a ticket(100 in a 60)

Since I got mine a last month I've been averaging 400Kms per tank, of course not pushing it to do a proper breakin. Last couple of fill ups I've had a few good runs pushing on on/off ramps etc but still 80% casual driving and I have been getting 380-390kms. I have found that I get better gas mileage with Sunoco 94 then I do with 91. I hit 400kms on 94 then put in 91 and got 385, put 94 again and got 400kms again this with all the same driving style and during break in period. Doesn't make sense to me.

Hmmm I get Better
70% is on the 407 / 401 .. 30% City .. Cruise 125 on the 407...boot it by the Bmers and others up to 140-145.. Nobody wants to take me on at a stop light..so don't jump on it there much.. Get about 385-400 per fill at about 90-95 empty...
Who gives a ****...price you pay for a sweet car..

If you do a lot of short drives your mileage will pretty bad. If I only drive to work and back and to town and back (5 to 10 km drives) for an entire tank, I often get around 280-300 (I didn't say they weren't fun short drives :D ) but if it is straight highway I'll get up around 400.

I just clocked 450 KMs on my first full tank. And the amber fuel light was on so it was a pretty good test of a full tank.
Mostly 75% highway driving (I live near the on-ramp and work close to the off ramp -Deerfoot Trail in Calgary). Using standard Safeway Brand 91.
That's probably because you get "0" MPG sitting at idle. It's not just this car but all cars. The more stoplight time the worse your end mileage...

Being stopped in this car decreases mileage more than running at 6K + constantly in 2nd and 3rd for 2 hours.

Whew....wanna talk about gas consumption....a couple weekends ago I did a trip with a buddy from Calgary to Winnipeg.
Round trip was $580 in gas!! We were averaging about 180-200 on the way down though, so that sure didn't help much.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one getting crappy mileage!
I'm getting "around" 300 km per tank. My last fill up calculated out to 16L/100Km - not the 12.9L / 100Km they advertise.
Has anybody ever explored the theory that maybe the DSC is one cause to the lousy mileage? Has anybody ever driven an entire tank with the DSC OFF?

I am getting about 300 KM per tank and 90% city driving. I might hit 8K three - five times between refill. I have never done better than 350 even with times on high way. Not sure if higher octane will do me any good. Make things worst my minivan has better gas mileage.

There was a lot of discussion about it last summer. I tried it for a tank and I think it did give slightly better mileage, but then I might have been driving a little more conservatively too, since I was watching the fuel guage as much as the road.
You'd have to do it for a while to get a really good idea of it, and I can't remember to hit the button to turn off DSC with any consistancy.

I get on average of 350 to 450 km/tank, and it's basically maybe 50/50 driving of city/highway.
I did a trip to Montreal from Mississauga. My first half of tank, i made 200 km on the 401 around the Toronto area, which if most of you know was in pure construction during the summer and was basically up and down speeds. After, I made about 160 kms and had just over a 1/4 of the tank left. I couldn't believe it. I was basically just driving at 120-140 km/h. I just filled up lastnight, and i did roughly 440 kms on that tank.

I finally broke the 400Km mark early this summer with about 12,000Km. My odometer is now showing 20,000Km and I'd say that I get at least 425Km a tank; then again I rarely let the tank go dry since I fill up anytime there's a good 'deal' on gas. I also travel 90 % highway at speeds of about 115-120.
I think that it's hit and miss with this car. Some owners get sucky gas mileage and some get not-as-sucky gas mileage (we all get some kind of sucky gas mileage).
On the oil burning side of things, I've spoken to owners who have to refill their oil constantly, some don't need to as frequently. I check my oil level regularly and only had to refill twice over the past year.

I was running 350-400 km but when i took it in for the first check up, I asked them to check the flash. They said they reflashed from L to M and since then, my mileage has dropped to 300-350 range. I asked the dealer and they said first they have heard any body complain about that. Has anybody else had a similar experience.

I haven't clocked my mileage in a while, I really don't think that much about it. I am curious though, how far off the Mazda published EPA ratings should actual performance be? I mean, everyone knows there is to be some variation (temp, avg. speed, aggressiveness of driver, etc.) but some of these reports seem like excessive variation.
If a manufacturer advertises 10L/100km and an average driver observes 20L/100km consistently over time, does the owner have any recourse with the manufacturer?
Just curious.

In the city I get 400-415 km. On the highway this summer out through BC I got 560-580km per tank. I was quite happy with that. I agree it is tough on fuel idling, is less tough in stop and go and mine is quite good in 6th on cruise at maybe 130kph.

I am getting 450-500km per tank. Driving is split between highway and city probably slightly favouring the highway. Regularly have revs in the 5-7 range but found that sixth gear on the highway really helps the economy.
