The pace laps were fast enough last year that 2 people fell off the track lol, and it should about 15-30 minutes depending on how many people turn out.

Just a suggestion - watch a few laps on youtube - Mosport is not very difficult to learn. Al at the wheel = you will need to keep up.

Can we limit the number of passengers to cars? If I recall there was a BMW 328i holding EVERYBODY up because it was a clown car. That and the driver didn't want to participate in following the proper line.

That's probably the worst advice you can give. Watching a video for an inexperienced driver is just going to put someone in a wall at Mosport if they try to do the same thing. I had an RX-8 owner ask me to drive the track once with their car and the session after they put their car into the wall, corner 2, trying to do what I did. Not making that mistake again or at least going to be very clear on reality.

Besides, this is follow the leader pace lapping. Al is not going to be driving all out either. If its done correctly there should be no issues as long as people leave their ego at home.

1) Al goes at a pretty good pace.

2) As a guy who drove Mosport in a parade lap with Al not knowing which way the track goes, I can say from personally say that I would have benefited from understanding a bit about the line. Having an idea of what you are doing is always more enjoyable in my mind. I am not quite clear how driving the line (which you can technically teach a monkey - it is car control that really separates drivers) line will put you into the wall...

3) You had a guy who ended up following you and going into the wall - I am missing the logic of this. Was this on parade lap - why did he end up in the wall - did he go in too hot and lift? Does this have anything to do with the line or are you one of those rear single apex guys?

There are always people who end up painting the tires at 2 but I fail to see how there is more of a chance in doing this if you are following the proper line and have an idea about how to drive the track.

I did not suggest people go flat through 4 or driving the curbs on exits,
- just getting an idea of how the track works and this track is not very complicated.

EDIT: I personally always spend time watching a good driver's line if I am going to a new track (don't have video games)

Cheers

P.S

for the rx7club guys - Trillium BMW at Mosport GP this Friday 250$ for 3 1/2 hours, pass anywhere rules.

It is done correctly every year.
But there are always a few people who refuse to follow the line, or keep pace. Call it personal limits, or they feel since this is a "parade" lap, they don't need to be keeping pace.

I know a few of you had trouble last year due to a convertible 3 series who was just being a moving obstacle. Up near the middle of the pack, some of us were having the same trouble with a guy in his Boxter. After practically tailgating the guy for 2 laps, he decided to pull into the pits and let the rest of us by. We quickly took off to catch up to the front of the pack. It took at least half the way around to finally catch up to the front of the pack. This is how far back the Boxter was putting us, and how quickly this "parade" lap goes around the track.

I remember one year when the person who was holding us up was prospectez in his 8. lol
He reached his limit. But the rest of the conga line behind him had higher limits. Thankfully Pros saw it, and let the majority of the faster folk by.

We have to tell these people to be aware of their surroundings. They can't get tunnel vision and keep the car in front of them at 20+ car lengths. This is what splits the pack and then Al has to slow down so the rest of us can "catch up"

I suggest before we get on the track, the people who have been to the track before, or have some sort of racing experience, get to the "front" of the pack. I know it'll be difficult, but to bunch alot of people up at once, just minutes before staging, doesn't help. Someone should go around taking names, handing out numbers so they can queue correctly at staging.

Just a small suggestion.
