Too bad the weather took a dip from the beautiful stuff we got earlier in the week. I got out the Miata a day late, having killed the battery a couple weeks prior ... suffice it to say, there was no joy awaiting me on that fine frigid evening.
Good to see some people coming out of hibernation though. Can we maybe get a showof hands on a full-sized meet, sometime in the next few weeks? I know you guys won't keep the beasts locked away any longer than that! XD

Finally had some time to redo the coilover rear install since I was getting horrible clunking sounds. It is now gone and the car handles amazingly. Now for a corner balance and alignment and it will be good for the road.
When is the first meeting in april?

I was out there too. Doing the 404/DVP thing from Aurora to Wynford. Winter traction was pretty good but 50 sidewalls on 17 rims is pretty squishy/wobbly compared to summers.

The bad: not only no one at the Kennedy station, but I swung by the Valleymede station at like ten-to, and nobody there either!
The good: that Kennedy station is sweet! Huge indoor bay with like 12 stalls, toasty-warm inside, and a good washer setup. The price is 85c per minute (75 if you buy gas), so the price has risen quite a bit from my initial interest, but I ended up doing a complete wash and wax, and it came out to 7$ (and I was at a pretty relaxed pace!) Significantly, the guy said if they're empty, you can dry for free. And the place was literally empty the whole time I was there, so I got some swank treatment. Best of all, it's open 24hours.
I bet a big group of us in there would make a sweet Markham meet! Man, wish I'd take some pics ... Anyway, you guys have got to check this out.

Hi maitre, I went to the Kennedy and 407 that Shell station at 9:15pm yesterday night, want to try out the indoor car wash you mentioned. When I walk in, the cashier said the indoor car wash close at 8pm. I am like what? I thought it's open 24 hours, then the cashier said no, it's closed at 8pm everyday. So I got no choice but to leave. end up I washed my car at Valleymede Dr. that Shell......
Well anyway, I'm thinking I could do with a wash, so let's get out there tonight! I'm going to hit the Kennedy station for 21h30, then if anyone's at the Valleymede station at 22h00, I might make it over in time to meet up.

For the record, I think I figured out the confusion: the station has two carwashes, an automatic touchless, and a hand-wash. The automatic closes at pm, but the hand-wash is 24-hour. You don't even have to buy first, you just drive around the back, hit the button, take your ticket, and the door opens. Once you're done washing, there's a door from the wash bay to the register, you go in and pay, and then they let you out. (Or if it's dead empty, you ask if you can stay inside and dry your car for free. :P )
On that topic, we were speculating as to whether they might give us some kind of group rate. If they're empty anyway, and there's a group of us with easily distinguished cars, we might at least get some leeway on staying inside longer. It'd make a great excuse for a winter meet, at any rate. Not so relevant going forwards though, the warm weather is upon us!

Ka Kui, did we miss you? Me and HomePC were at Kennedy Shell, never saw signs of anyone else though.

Hey maitre, I went to the Valleymede Dr. Shell instead, and I was late, I got there around 10:45pm or something...
Oh, so the guy told me 8pm close is the automatic wash then. But I am sure I said "self-wash" last time. Oh, so I don't need to pay first before wash, maybe that's the thing. I thought I have to pay before wash, just like other normal car wash or self-wash. So that's cool, thanks for your detail write up. I will definitely hit the Kennedy Shell more often, since it's indoor, and open 24 hours..... But why would the automatic wash close at 8pm though, that's weird....
Yeah, let's try to see if we can get some group rate, or stay inside longer. So did you and HomePC got to stay inside to dry your cars before leaving?
