* Working with Mazdaspeed in the states to secure another carrier so that we don't get dinged with the mandatory $40 UPS charge when you order parts
* An annual Mazda sponsored lapping day at the Mosport DDT perhaps
* Greater involvement in the annual MOM including supplying prizes.
* Possible financial support for professional teams in high visibility series.
* Contingency programs for a selection of series in Canada.

They are interested in gathering ideas on how to support Mazda's motorsports presence in Canada. Mazda Canada has only opened this door once or twice in the last decade so let us try and finally lay a foundation firstly with motorsports that can support and include enthusiasts once we've cleared the air over racing.

So please, hold off on your emails until I can assemble a group of people to meet with their representatives. If you actively participate in motorsports in your Mazda and have some valuable ideas or constructive opinions to share then PM me a brief description and leave me your email. Again, it makes sense that I select 9-10 people to join me at Mazda.
This would make sense to me... this would put MC more on the path of MUS and I would fully get behind this.

Mazda's most rabid enthusiastic have a tenancy of being weekend warriors that buy into the zoom zoom culture. As a direct correlation of my fanboying I've sold at least 5 net new Mazda's for them in the past year. That isn't to say that there are a large number of other Mazda fans out there that don't race, lap or anything like that, but then again, after buying the car from Mazda... do they really need any other support?

In any case you guys have fun battling it out. Best of luck to both of you.

Mazda Canada supports racing in Canada................hmmmmmmmmmm BULL ****!
Unless something has changed since November 2009 all the support for the series mentioned above comes from Mazdaspeed Motorsports which as far as I can remember is THE USA. If supporting the ALMS series in Canada consists of getting free tickets to some of their employees.....maybe, but when whe I was around even that went through the US. I do recall the president went to Montreal 2 years ago to watch the Grand Am race their, so I guess that counts as support lol.

Let me tell you what support is. I get a call every year from BFGoodrich asking me if Im racing this year and supplying me with sets of free tires at $1200.00 per set, thats support. BFGOodrich also has a contingency program they announced through CASC and I believe they are looking at other series in Canada as well.
I received a call from NGK Canada, same deal with spark plugs and at $60.00 PER PLUG thats support. When Mazda gave me money it was set up through our co-op advertising program so by me billing the dealership they would reinburse the dealership for 50% of that bill, and the dealership would pay me. They did that twice in all my time at Mazda. Sorry guys this really strikes a personal cord with me.

I think we all need to step back an take it easy here. It seems we are stepping on each others toes.
I've read this thread front to back and I can see each others point of view and how much Mazda's improved involvment to enthusiasts and to racers alike. I beleive it is equally important for mazda to involve themselves in both situations. I know if Mazda were to focus some attention to enthusiasts it would give them a background to more performance oriented applications to our vehilcles which would then many of us would get more involved in motorsport racing. It is then were Mazda's support would be critical in developing a team/car in order to compete. If Mazda were smart about it they would support us in the beginning, the ones who will progress will shine and Mazda could see how they can support not even just race teams but show cars and they would see their name coming into winner circles more often.
I know Jason has been doing well, he took Fourth in Toronto in the summer, I've been to their shop, and been given a warm reception, and if I had more time I would maybe see how I could help them also.
I think even before we sit back and rely on mazda to support us we should support each other more, show Mazda that we are a solid force that cannot be ignored, and then we all will get the support we want.
I personally would like to see some clinic type sessions for the people who don't even know what a wrench is right up to race clinics fronted by Mazda race developers and local race teams.

To get what we want we need to work together. Not I want the support and you guys have to wait.

Wow, this is getting heated and a little paranoia thrown in for good measure. Everyone's got to find some common ground if this thing ever takes off, I hope it does because as most person on this forum know I'm skeptical of everything all of the time. I, like many others have left my contact info and hope like hell MC get back to me and everyone else!

At 6:55 pm EST tonight Mazda Canada posted this on FB:

Mazda Canada: After reading your comments about Mazda Motorsports in Canada, we want you to know that we currently support various Canadian racing events. However, we also know there’s more we can do. Let’s have a meet-and-greet luncheon and talk about it! Please read the attached post, and send your contact info to meetandgreet@maz...da.ca if you’re interested in attending. We look forward to hearing from you!

I don't think that leaves much room for more misinterpretation.

sounds good, round up your 10 friends and go have a meeting with Mazda, and we all stop Buying their products and see how long Mazda will be supporting your Motorsports.. I doubt Mazda is doing this only for the Motorsports crowd.. how many of you do you think there are in Toronto, I highly doubt hundreds of people from the Motorsports world will commute to T.O for a meet. Yet aloneknow anything is going on unless they have Facebook and Mazda as one of their likes... I say we just drop this whole thing and everyone who wants to go just go, and we talk cars.

I think everyone should CALM THE HELL DOWN.

The moment Mazda Canada even remotely mentioned that they are "listening", people start swing their e-peens.

We have to acknoweldge its Jason who started the bitching, and Andrew who came up with idea, that get support from the crowd and "force" Mazda Canada to have a response.

Now, please make use of this chance.

I am not in to motorsports other than being a spectator and maybe sometime race team member that do photography and PR, I sincerely support whoever is racing under the Mazda name.

So, email ideas we think Mazda Canada can help, and see what they come up with.

Seriously, not another MOM feel good zoom zoom event. We already have that. Jason asked a question and we all support him.

Let's be constructive here alright? I truly believe we can have another Seven Stock North in Mazda Canada this racing season, and have Mazda Canada commit more resouces in helping Mazda racers in Canada....

Not starting anything, I am a Neutral party in this, All I can say in the end its Mazda's choice and all that we can do is try, then not try at all. No offence Jason, but I read that and this image came into my head LoL. All fun..

"Yep, flood them with contact information, go for it. They'll either hold an event of some sort to distract people from the quest I set us on the path of or use it for marketing purposes and we'll never know what could have come from an organized group of experienced individuals stating their concerns and wishes for the betterment of Mazda motorsports in Canada."

Im sorry but that just came into my mind after I read that LoL:

My apologies for trying to keep the subject on course.

It's unfortunate that (select members of) the RX8 forum were the only Mazda forum to not embrace the plan with maturity and an open mind as is evidenced in these threads:

I thought (as RacerJason keeps trying to point out VERY CLEARLY in his posts ) that this was about Mazda motorsports and not about the people who drive their mazdaspeed components on the street.

The insults are fine, I can handle it. But if anyone is too dense to recognize that if this is successful there would be positive repercussions throughout the Mazda community and its enthusiasts. Imagine if we did get a new carrier assigned for delivering Mazdaspeed parts or if Mazda Canada offered discounted tickets to the ALMS race at Mosport and a car corral for those Mazda attendees or if we could get Mazda to support MOM again? A good relationship with MC (although still a pipe dream) means new doors opening for everyone.

Huge thanks to those who continue to support the movement! If you participate in motorsports at any level in Canada I encourage you to email your contact information and some thoughts/ideas to Mazda Canada. I'm passionate about Mazda's and Racing, this can benefit us all if we are successful!

Listen buddy, I can honestly fing care less about your bfs in the other clubs talking **** about our community... so get lost.. without us enthusiasts you would have 20 people show up at your meet and great and Mazda would tell you to screw off. I just do not see why you are rubbing everything in our faces.

I was fine with this but that last comment from Jason pisses me off. The only reason they said that stuff about us was because "somebody" went complaining to them. Honestly bud. If your just here to disrespect the club, I think you should take your lousy few posts and leave the forum. Can't just come in here and try and run things your way. Even though **** isn't going the way you want it bud you should still appreciate the effort Footman is putting into this cause honestly if it weren't for him and a few others. The forum would be dead. My two cents. Sorry if that harsh but that **** bothered me.

To Whom It May Concern,
I only have one request. Who ever is emailing with Mazda to set this up, kindly ask a very direct question. Please find out what series they are supporting in Canada and by what means. Ask the question directly it will give you a starting point for your meeting. If you dont get a definitive answer then you know what direction your meeting will take.
