mazda in the mountains 2006

Mazda in the Mountains 2006
Saturday, September 2nd

Pre-meet location - Canada Olympic Park @ 11:30am
Depart for Cruise to Bowvalley @ 12:30pm
MITM at Bowvalley (Whitefish location) 1:30pm to around 4:00pm

If people want to do other things after Bowvalley, it can be desided at the meet. For those that have never been to that location. There is a bit of a private parking area for all the Mazdas. Along the side there is a nice strip of grass for anyone wanting to have a little picnick or just sit and chill. The lot runs along the edge of river and if anyone wants to take a nice chilly dip is more than welcome to. There is an excellent view of some nearby Mountains which goes with the MITM theme perfectly.

bump....I hope some of you make it to this event. It was a lot of fun last year. It would be good to have a few RX8's there. There will be quite a few 7's for sure. Because of my engine problems I can't make it this year.

It died. I was just leaving a traffic light at normal speed...heard a pop...and it was done. I'm sure it will be like last time in that I won't be told what happened to it because the dealer doesn't crack the engine open. They just ship if off to Mazda.

Come on guys...we haven't had a good meet in 1.5 years. This is a great one to go to.

Ehhh ... Labor Day weekend, eh? I'm "supposed" to be in Toronto but may not go. If so, then I can make the meet.

^^ Lude .... you're getting hitched? Good for you. Remember at COP last time how you lost your girlfriend there .... guess we're going to have to start calling yourself "LostMyWife" instead of "LostMyGirlfriend"

Yeah, not sure about bringing the significant other this time. But it seems like I've brain-washed her into being interested in cars.
So who's all going to this?

the sticky thread in this forum says "Event threads MUST have the Location in the Subject line or they'll be deleted!"

now this thread hasn't been deleted yet but it is really anoying when meets are posted without locations

^^^ Uhhhhh .... newbie in case you didn't read the entire thread, this is Mazda in the Mountains ... so we can't exactly give the name of each mountain that we will be passing. Besides, this is an annual event. Also a little reading reveals ... gasp! Locations! Pre meet at COP?? Then going to Bowvalley??? And what? To whitefish location? Holy batman!

Relax, we have mods that take care of anything that is unclear (unless you were recently appointed a mod ... in that case make the necessary changes )

So with all my commitments today I knew I wasn't going to be able to make the beginning of the meet @ COP. So I tried to make the end of the meet at the Whitefish day site. Only problem was I was running behind schedule. I still decided to drive out there. I didn't get there until 4:00 but there was nobody there. Did the site get changed? I ask this because I didn't see any RX7's, RX8's or Protégé’s on the highway on my way out. I just saw one group of Mazda 3's.

Well it wasn't a total loss. I was nice to be able to take my car out for a spin on the highway. Lot's of radar traps out there. I took the 1A home and that was a hoot. Not much traffic on that road and some nice corners.

...I laughed at those 65kms signs they have on the curves.

Just 1 RX8 out at the meet, I thought you guys would represent better. At least there were about 6 rx7's representing all three generations including n/a, peri-port, s/c and turbo. . Maybe next year, was a great drive!
