I bought one from a forum member for $50 shipped and spent around two of my own hours and WCS's time on replacement.

Oh, the vacuum pump cost me $80

I need a new dyno run to confirm how much power I lost to this but I would estimate 20 to 25 WHP

Okay Thanks, I'm just really contemplating leaving it for now as I'm sick of waiting for parts and need to get this thing on the road so I can do a few data logs for MM tunes. One missing part has had my car parked for 4 weeks now when it was actually done 2 weeks ago (minus IC outlet elbow)

An easier way to confirm the problem is to log your engine 3K to 9K RPM then wire the SSV actuator open, plug the vacuum line and log 3K to 9K again.
If you see a big MAF and AFR change then replace the actuator.

If you have the leak then your AFR could be way off between when the SSV opens and when it closes. Please refer back to my chart showing my AFR before and after repair. Also it means losing your secondaries at WOT

I had already confirmed the leak and purchased the actuator so being clever was something I could avoid...
But RMR seems reluctant to dive head first into his engine bay so I'm giving him a simple way to confirm this issue
I have a terrible feeling that this is more common than people realize. I think that anyone with max MAF readings under 200g/s should try this experiment.
I need some data because pulling trends out of one result is too difficult...

Okay, that sounds alot better than having to buy the vacuum pump and everything first. I will try this and post some logs up but the thing is I will have to wait for one or two mmccs maps before I WOT to 9k. So this potentially won't happen until the spring, depending on when GReddy decides to send that F'in elbow and how fast MM can get my calibrations back to me after I data log.

I'll have to read back about how to wire the actuator open, I remember seeing it somewhere... I'm assuming you mean removing the vacuum line to the actuator and plugging that one.

You don't have a scale for your AFR graph... how much more lean was it running on average? .5AFR or was it quite a bit larger, like 1.5AFR? It may be a cause for caution if I it turns out my actuator is shot and my turbo is tuned for it, don't wanna lean out with FI.

I posted it in Cobb Datalogs
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=135

In the 7500 RPM range I went from mid 11's to nearly 13!!!

Yea if you want to get this done you just gotta bite the bullet and plan it.

I would be up for another session either later this year or next year, depending how tight finances are when I get my bonus it's going for a turbo kit :D

Word to the wise: Just collect money for Jeff's tuning and let people pay their own dyno fees directly to the dyno operator. That was the only part that was a headache because when people go over their time, and they will, the dyno guy still wants to get paid.

I'd be in for this as well... but... we'd need a fair bit of people to jump on the bus for this to be affordable....

It's actually really easy to get a hold of him. He's almost always e-mailed me back within a day. It's just that most people send him stupid **** and they get ignored

I've never had problems getting a hold of Jeff.
Might have something to do with the fact that I typically pay him in hookers and blow.
It's not easy finding lesbian twin sisters but for Jeff it's worth the effort.

this could be worth a road trip.... Does anyone want to plan something? (I would plan, but a) I'm still pending a deployment, and b) not enough people in my area with an 8 to justify holding it here lol)
