Wow BrilliantBlack that's pretty good mileage so far. You do a lot of highway seeing as that you're from Milton?

Kancho, if it isn't flashed, go to your dealer. The MSP04 program is "manditory" so the dealer will do it for free. Just ask for it straight away. The latest flash is N but it doesn't have changes to the fuel mapping so it's like getting M with a couple of extras.

Cool Don't wait.......

If you are waiting for some magical 'mileage switch' that increases your economy after break-in, you may be disapointed - I just passed 30K, and the mileage is exactly like my first tank; 375km average to warning light, or 19 mpg.

First year I actually used to get 400km now and then, but lately I'm lucky to get the 375km......

Still lovin' it! :p

Actually I have yet to take it on the highway. It's all city driving. The eastbound 401 is a disaster in the morning for where I need to get to (airport area). I'm still in my break-in period, so I imagine my mileage will suffer a bit once I can rev it a bit more freely.

Overall I'm prety happy with the car, there a re few small things that bug me, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Magic mileage switch, that's funny :D . I don't watch my mileage hoping for anything, I just noticed a sudden change from an average of 360kms to warning light to 390Kms with the same driving style. All this did was give me an excuse to open her up more often, so I'll probably make my way back to 360 again.

If your doing the same kind of average, and getting 25% less from a tank, something is wrong. Tell the dealership. It could be a clogged (with oil) air filter or bad plugs.
From what I've seen, your car is getting exceptional mileage. I get roughly the same mileage as the other local RX-8 owner I know. 500 is high from what I've seen posted.
I think the biggest problem may be the loose nut behind the wheel. 120-130 kph, eh? Maybe I'll try that next time

I usually shift between 4000 and 5500 on gear changes now and pull a number of high 7000 - 9500 shifts, unless there is traffic of course. I have software on my pocket PC that I use to track my gas mileage since the begining of this year. These are the stats it shows so far:

Cost per K: $0.14
Ave. KPL 7.3
Ave litres ber 100kms: 13.7 (Mixed Driving)

Worst gas mileage: 6.9 KPL
Best gas mileage: 7.9 KPL

For the difference in mileage this car is not worth granny shifting, what do you gain 20Km's per tank? That's not enough to sacrifice FUN for.

Loose nut? Everyone drives 120-130 on the highway, my cruise speed is 130 -140. I drop to 120/130 when I want to slow down and just follow centre lane traffic for a while.

That was my point. Maybe I'll try 120-130 next trip back from Ontario. It will probably add an hour or two to my drive time tough

HI guy's, I am averaging 400KM's per tank on my first two tankfuls. I'm at about 850KM's on the car so far, and loving every minute of it. :D

I find it really weird that there is such a difference in mileage between owners. It must be driving habits....

200KM to go before I finish my break in!!!!

Cheers.
