the m3 did that time on top gear when it was pouring rain during the test....they say when the track is wet that you should take off 4 - 5 seconds off the time to get what it should be in the dry....anywho..........does look like it could be a big turnout

Can we be allowed to pass this year (under voluntary conditions... i.e. the car in the front signals/waves you to pass). I really wanted to pass NVX last year, but was held back by rule.

I doubt it dude... that could lead to some uber aggressive driving and someone could end up taking out a wack load of cars if they pooch it up in a corner...

Just convince NVX to head out to Shanonville this year and pass him there

Footman relax on the passing, driving aggressive, faster whatever, we are going out for some fun and I'm sure decent lapping etc. It's not a competition. If you are that concerned about it, maybe we should stick you behind Al and you won't have anyone to pass and therefore no worries

We will make some track days and you can go as nutty as you want, but don't worry you will still be behind me :-o

That is why I said "voluntary passing". Nobody knows what each other are capable of in driving ability and prowess. There is no way we can quantify each other based on our average speeds before this event and then line up the people in such a way to have the slowest in the back and the fastest people in the front. Hence, on the track day, if someone ends up in the middle of the pack that wants to take it easy, on the back straight, he/she can put his/her blinkers on and voluntarily let the cars behind move ahead of him/her.

Again, being entirely voluntary, this is optional, meaning one can be a ******* *******, and do 120kph on the back straight but does not give the signal to pass. In that case, then the cars behind will have no choice but to stay behind him at 120kph. Then that guy/girl can get his/her *** kicked for having the other drivers' experience ruined at the end of the day =)

Though having said all this, ultimately the decision is up to Al since he graciously got the connections to make this happen free for us.

Thanks Al.

The decision is not up to me, its up to the club (BEMC) that is donating the track time. Passing is strictly prohibited due to insurance reasons etc. Your cars would have to have cages, safety systems etc....................hey they would have to be...........race cars lol. This is just a time to get on the track and see what the drivers see and feel etc.

The only off-street driving I've had is Auto Cross so I'll volunteer to be dead last.

yeah, the dead last position is actually one ahead of me. haha. i was planning to hang way back from whoever in front of me. i dont wanna spoil anyones experience, or my own. my experience would be spoiled if i felt i was holding anyone up. i just wanna tool around the track basically. im not looking to hit the perfect line or good lap times, or hit any insane speeds. obviously driving faster than road speeds, but i, like saguine have had no track experience. i also lack any of the autoX experience he has. most of my spirited driving excursions until i got the 8 have all been somewhat rally inspired. taking place on gravel or snowy back roads...im not sure how to deal with this `grip` and `pavement`. lol.

Then I shall be at the very back, since the only experience is unintentional drifting with DSC on, OH OH.

Yes helmet is mandatory on highspeed track like Mosport.

And just a friendly reminder, if you want to go ***** out, this is not the time to do it. Go to a track day / HPDE day if you wanna do that.

This is a time to drive and experience the track. As far as I knew, Al's was driving fast enough last year.

FYI, if you are in a track day, the track marshal will flag you to let you know there are faster car from behind, GTFO of the way, or even black flag if you are being an *******....

That's not what the first post said, hence why I wanted to post the question to make sure.

last yr we didnt need helmets we're ******* lapping not racing. The last spot is actually the most fun, since you can slow way down let everyone get way a head and floor it and catch back up on the straight and just repeatedly do this. i forget who was behind Al last year but they complained because they were actually going the slowest since they had to keep on his *** the hole time and didn't get to do the hole slow down and catch back up thing.

it's enjoyable to watch everyone get so worked up for something thu we love our cars
