Angry My 8 got hit :(

Was walking to my parking spot in my condo garage earlier this evening, and just when I walked close enough, I noticed a piece of paper on my windshield. I figured, a neighbour throwing a party?? Picked up the paper, and to my shock, it reads that my neighbouring car ran into my 8 while parking. I checked the right front bumper, sure enough, it has a big *** scratch on it. So just less than a week of getting my 8, my car got into an accident. (I'll post pictures later.) I was pretty upset. I called the guy (he left his number on the paper). He sounded polite enough, and he sounded genuinely guilty. He's willing to pay cash for whatever damage. So, I'm now cool about it.

So.. here's what I'm gonna do. I'm going to go to a Mazda dealer this weekend for a repair quote, and have my neighbour pay me the cash. (I heard Morningside Mazda in Toronto has a good bodyshop) And in turn, I'm going to add a few hundred bucks and buy myself a Mazdaspeed replica body kit. What do you all think? Any good place to do this in Toronto? I'm not ripping my neighbour off. I'm going to tell him that this is what I'm going to do.

Not the whole thing, man. Just whatever cost to repair the stock bumper. I'll add on top of whatever he gives me for the replica body kit.

OH MAN ... as Rotten42 always says ... SILVER is cursed. It's a magnet for crashing, getting scratches and overall getting banged up. Should have joined the "Winning" Team (aka blue)

wow, that's really honest of your neighbor to leave the note.

Miracles do occur! Ethical people like your neighbour are hard to find these days.

Thank your neighbour on behalf of all of us who have ever been dinged in a parking lot and left high and dry with the repairs.

Yeah, I agree. Thank this guy on behalf of all of us. Although "doing the right thing" shouldn't require reward, with the way our half-assed society seems to shirk responsibility at every turn these days ya oughta buy the guy a beer... he's becoming a dying breed.

As far as getting a legit quote and topping up the cost of the kit with your own dough, I don't see a problem with it. Make sure you get the quote(s) on paper so the guy knows its all on the up and up...

Sorry your new 8 got scratch. But do thank your neighbour for such honesty. I think you should bill him for only the bumper repair based on the Mazda quote. If you can go elsewhere to do the repair cheaper (and better), do so. Then you may have extra left over to subsidize your body kit.

What is it with the silver cars? I really need to start a poll among the people who have has damage to their cars. I think 95% of them would be silver.

You are you: Aurther, King of England
What is your quest: To seak the holy grail
What is your favorite color: Silver

(cut to the shot of a silver RX8 flying off into the gourge.)

It's good to know there are still good people here. As for body shops, I had a scratch on my car that was fixed in one day. I've been posting this guys info alot, but anyway...Velocity @ 12 Heritage Road Unit 3-4 ask for Barry (905) 471-6756 he's located near Markville Mall. I was introduced by Hybrid RX8 when I got me scratch on the back, but no one can tell where now. Price is good there. As well, they can install bodykits etc. as they have done them before there. PM for more details if you wish.
