My car is at the rail yard in Toronto!

Just got off the phone with my dealer, the car is at the rail yard!

They were asked if they wanted to go and pick it up, they said no, it would put too many kilometers on it, and too tempting to drive around, what good guys! (The dealership is 2 hours North)

So I'm waiting for it to be shipped by auto transport. Hopefully I'll have it early next week! WOO HOO!!
I'm thinking of asking them to leave the front plate off, and see how long I can go without problems from the men in blue.
It will be an early birthday present (August 4) I just realized I got one of the 1st Miatas in 1990 exactly on my birthday!

This will be my third Mazda. I had a 1976 RX 4, then the Miata and now the RX 8.

Still get excited about a new car (and I'm in the business)

I'll keep you all updated.

The race is on for first delivery in the east!

I'm kind of the same. I live in Oshawa but had to go to Brampton for mine.

I just got off the phone with the sales manager. They are definitely on the truck and were due in at the dealer today. They close at 9, so they may still show up. He did say that the transport company did have explicit instructions to deliver during dealer hours as they wanted to lock the cars up inside.

Guess I'll have another night of wondering. I'll give them a call at 9 in the morning and find is it actually came in. I'll keep you posted.

Rotorian....I talked to the business manager at the dealership, she told me who you are

I didn't know who you worked for previously...guess I should be praising my home dealership now! Kidding. So why didn't you order from the dealership in Burl?

Burlington Mazda was supposed to get their first RX-8 this aft...but some kind of delay. I think it should come in in the next two days according to them.

What I can't figure out, is why the dealership in Burlington is getting 1 car...and Brampton is getting 6 from the first shipment? I know, I know, it is the biggest Mazda dealer in Canada (as I've heard)....but man, share the wealth!!!

Burlington Mazda is just one of my clients. They are part of an 8 dealer group. I didn't react fast enough to get a car on order in time. I'm dealing with their wholesale lease division, so I found the car myself, and they'll lease it for me.

I was there today, they didn't have enough personal to go get the cars, so they're being trucked. Hopefully yours will arrive tomorrow or Monday. What colour are you getting?

I wish you were correct, but I'm "3rd" on the list....I think....which effectively means, I 'm told that I could be waiting until sometime in September. Again, what I was told...not sure what the scoop is to be honest.

I wish I had followed your lead....shoulda contacted a boonieville dealiership and popped the preorder in. I've had my order in since January, which would mean I'd likely be in the first cut.

I would like to state for the record that I'm 100% happy with the dealership now. They have been very accomodating with my trade in and my situation (being a car nut dying for this new car). And not just saying that because you know them....they really are making an effort, and I think I now understand how little info they have to work with.

btw - My "preference" is to get a Black, GT, Moon & Nav....but the dealership thinks there is a Red GT, Moon & Nav coming. I'm really not sure if I'll like the red having never seen it up close.

Well,
They were having problems before, short a Manager etc. The new business Manager seems quite proficient. I thought the GM said they were getting a red GS right away, 1-2 others (GTs?) possibly here soon as well. I'm going back in to the dealership briefly next week, I'll try and keep you informed.

BTW, why so hung up on NAV. I had it on a G35, really neat, but I don't think it's worth $3,000.00!

The current Manager is awesome...I really like her.

Yes....they are getting a Red GS right off the bat, but I'm confused as to whether it goes to one of the other pre-orders, etc. or if they are keeping it at the dealership.

What I'd love to know (if you can find out) is the next set they are getting, and when. I've heard another 2...and man do I wish I could get my hands on a black one.

I'll have to go take a peek at the red GS they get to see if I like it.

rotorian: any idea how long it takes to get accessories up here? Also, are they painted at the dealer or do you need to specify color prior to ordering?

I think the current Manager really likes you too (hint)

I think they are keeping the GS to demo for a while.

I will know more next week, but I get the impression there are other cars waiting to be shipped.

Interesting enough I told her today to check on the parts availability, and asked her to see if they have to be painted. My guess is yes, I can't see them stocking all colours. Flat black is normal, ready for paint. She will check ASAP.

A dealer trade is possible, but not very likely.

Why don't you e-mail me directly?
I'll P/M with my address.
