MY MISTAKE SEPT 18 not 19 at MOSPORT
#101
Just got home from loading "Christine" with help from RXeckless and Scottish, they also fixed my 2-way radio system so I can communicate with my crew tomorrow! You guys are amazing! Just finally counted the cash from today....thanks Scott for doing 90% of the registration I really appreciated all your help! We raised $700.00 which is the most ever. As always BEMC was amazing to work with and Josh thanks so much for the "pace car"! If everyone wants to we can go back to 2 events per year, the mothers day weekend and this weekend BEMC said they would love to do it with us again! I just really have to thank the RX8 club because it was mostly you guys that made it happen!
Your welcome. Helping out was no problem (even though you did blame me for slacking at first ) as there was good co-operation with everyone upon registration. Nice to see/meet some new faces and see some others that I hadn't seen in years!
Had a good time on the track too, even with 4 people in the "8". Didn't have any trouble in keeping up w/the altima in front of me.
My friend in the passenger seats took all 20 mins of track time video with his Iphone. I'll try and post it on youtube or something when I get it myself.
I just wish I could have hung out longer, but had to head out right away.

Track Report Sept 19, 2010
Got to the track at 8am (again) and had to go through yearly tech inspection. Christine growled at the tech inspector but she passed with flying colors. Next we fired it up, and with the trouble she has been giving me on start up lately I expected the worse. Spun the engine over to build oil pressure then turned on the ignition and fuel.................she started on the 1st crank....looks like it may be a good day afterall! Roll out for race one in 23rd position on the grid out of 28 starters. As we roll off for 2 pace laps (still clearing carnage from the previous race) the pace is so slow I am in 1st gear with the clutch in half the time. The finally drop the green and let everyone go until I know what I am dealing with. On lap 3 we start to move through the field and everything seems to be okay. Oil pressure is 125lbs, oil temp is 180 and water temp is 170.....perfect. The tune Mazmark put in the carburetor is amazing she is pulling like a freight train up the back straight to about 140 mph. We were stuck in traffic as we go through the field never really getting a clean lap, and when i cleared one pack I had a "moment" in turn 2..................slid sideway through the middle but didnt chicken out. We were running in 10th (passed 17 cars) and closing in quickly on 9th (Dave Wood Mazda's Speed 6) in turn 2. Did the normal tap the brake and lift for the entry (in 3rd gear) and when I went to pick up the throttle Christine was in neutral??!!!! Fished around and pushed the shifter back to 3rd gear only to have it try and engage 1st!!!! Kept fishing until almost turn 3 when it went back in then a quick downshift back to 2nd. Everything was fine until I was heading back into turn 1 again and all of the sudden when I lifted (in 3rd gear) she was in neutral again. This happened 2 more times and we finally drove into the pits.
that was at the 15 minute mark. SIIIIGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Fail
So I realized when I got home, that the iPhone does HD video recording at 720p, however at 30fps. But it does have a built in harddrive of 32GBs. Did some researching, and some of the Lotus guys just tie it down to their rear view mirrors. At least I know for the future, would be cool to try out if we do the Thanksgiving track day with Al, or a Fall Cruise.

I remember having two pace groups a couple years ago when we had to drive through the pitlane after every lap (beacuse Touring was gridding up at the start/finish line during lunch hour). Basically the slowpokes would pull over and pit, the fast guys can keep going (like serving a drive-thru penalty), then the middle pace car would come by and collect all the slow guys to re-join the track. Eventually the slow guys and people with bad coil-packs would end up at the back. lol.

How fast were you guys going in corner 2, 3 and 7? I'm always curious about how fast you can really go in some of those corners. One time somebody took me around the track in a caged car with R-compound. He did 170 in corner 2 while picking his nose, I nearly shat my pants.

Funny enough, corner 2 is when I caught everyone back up.
I started to pull pretty hard starting in corner 9.
But then I caught up by corner 2. So I had to slow it down to 110km/h through corner 2. Still a pretty decent clip on street rubber. Very well worn street rubber mind you.
Yeah, you can do most corners doing about 150-170km/h without doing much work. Provided you have the proper equipment that is.
They don't call it the fastest track in North America for the hell of it.

Pace car behind me flashed his highbeams at me for that. I wasn't intentionally trying to pass him, I guess that's what it looked like. The 330ci was going off onto curbing and flinging rocks and mud onto me. I had so many bad things I want to say to that 330ci driver, but oh well it's a charity "parade lap" only.
Let's put it this way, by the time we were coming out of corner 10, the car in front of the 330 was NO WHERE IN SIGHT anymore because he was already into corner 1.
FAIL.
