Near Death!!

Hi there,

In no way am I an expert but I would say that dropping to nuetral coming up to lights is a risky habit. If something happens behind you and you need to make a quick getaway or move quickly to avoid something, you ain't gonna go far in nuetral. You are leaving it all to inertia and your brakes....not good really.

As people have said you more than likely hit ice, car took it's own path and that's that. You made it home in your lovely car unscathed.

I'm from Adelaide Australia, we get a bit of ice but not like you guys. We spent Xmas 2004 in Calgary and had a blast. It's such a good place. Love the people and the snow and the cold and everything really. We want to come over to live I just have to find a job with the company I work for now over there!

I drove a big Chevvy Ucon truck over there it was quite unnerving in the snow and ice!!! But hey you are really brave with the 8!! It obviously goes ok over there?

Hope you don't mind me having a say on your forum. Usually stick to the Oz forum but thought I would say G'day! Never know might be over there in a year or so!

Safe driving and hope the snow storms not too bad!

Thanks.
Trust me, torque them to the required 108 ft/lbs. I never knew of the new one and torqued it to what mazda suggested which was 87 or whatever, and i lost two nuts and all were basically a bit loose, scary thought of a wheel flying off, torque to 108, no problems then.

Maybe your wheels have one of those (can't remember the exact name of it right now) a ring in the area of the center cap of the wheel, and it fell out or isn't placed properly?

Hub-centric ring. Yeah, a little plastic ring that fits between the wheel hub and rotor hub. I'll check but I expect that if the wheel was not centered properly that I would be experiencing vibration/noise as well.
