I was just wondering because the VIN's for two RX8's I am interested in are listed on a car auction website which I have access to because my friend is a car dealer, but neither of us can go because of work (it's tuesday during the day)

Yes you can, I just did it the other day.
I took the VIN to the MTO office and paid $20 for a previous owners package, it shows the current registered owner and his/her town/city. Then you Canada 411 search their name and start calling people lol. I've found several owners of vehicles that way.
