Need advice on MS wing and ...

Sorry I don't have pics to show my ride but I've got the mazda performance/appearance package (front air dam, aeroflares, rear side skirts, etc.) and now I am thinking about whether or not the mazdaspeed rear wing would look good or if it really needs the entire mazdaspeed kit. I'm just not sure I like the stock rear spoiler but will the ms wing look weird with the minimalistic mazda kit? I just have a feeling it might. Please tell me what you guys think.

Thanks.

I think there are a few people that have that same set up on their 8's.

Check through the pics on the "calling all" threads.

Do you find that dirt and stuff gets trapped between the back edge of the front mud guard and the body panel?

I'm trying to decide between whether to have that mud guard or not. seems to ruin the lines somewhat.

I think it accents the appearance side skirts quite nicely. (just tough to see on such a dark car)
It definitely does stop a lot of dirt from ending up on the side of my car.

I think the 8 would look great with just the MS spoiler alone, and that's what I will get for my 8 when I eventually have enough spare money for it.

Jedi, I'm more worried about the edge gap between the front guard and the body... is it like really tight against the body such that it's hard to get dirt and water trapped in there?

Excellent! Those pics were just what I needed cause I don't have many pics of my car yet and yours is very close to what I have. You have the clear corners on so I can see exactly how mine will look (I don't have strakes tho).

These pics make me think the wing looks perfect and balances out the front air dam. So thanks a lot for posting these, Jedi.

Btw what exhaust have you got on? It looks great!

Footman, I find the front deflector is bolted on pretty snug ... but I could imagine the it getting a bit loose and maybe collecting some dirt and water. But i've only had them for a few weeks. I also agree to some extent that they break up the lines of the car. Hmm, they look great on Jedi's car but I'm kind of doubting them on mine. I started out thinking I'd avoid a crazy body kit because of winter driving but had to get something so I got all the mazda aeroparts, etc.

But all in all, I do agree with Vancouver that the ms spoiler would look great on a stock car, too. Really great. So I think I'm sold on getting it now for sure. Thanks guys for helping me decide (just need $$).

Tomorrow I get tint from www.tinersedge.com (jason confurius) so that's first, then the wing and ... by god, I gotta stop buying stuff. After the clear corners, I honestly don't know what I would do next ... oh yeah, WHEELS. I have the 07 mazdaspeed wheels but I'm not crazy about them ... too shiny, bling. I like the other wheels on Jedi's car better sometimes. So I will look at wheels and save the current ones for winter (?) and that's it for modding ... for now ...?!?

It actually fits pretty snug on there. There's a screw that goes into the wheel well to hold it in place. Some dirt does get in there but it's very little. I took mine off last weekend for fun and was surprised at how LITTLE gets in there. (it's been on for 18 months) I took a quick rag to it, problem solved.

I've decided it messes the wheel arch a bit in the lines, so I won't get the front mud guard for now. I'll see how bad dirt and nasty stuff gets splashed to the lower front corner of the door though without the mud guard, maybe I'll change my mind later.

ZeroBio, as for the wheels, you should also have the factory ones too, so you can just swap the tires back onto the OEM ones and use the mazdaspeed wheels as winter rims!

Zerobio, let me know how your tint goes at tinter's edge.... I believe you made a typo in your URL. Should be www.tintersedge.com

Let me know the price you paid there, cause I"m in GTA as well.

Footman, I think I'm staying with the mazdaspeed rims for warm weather and need another set for the winter + tires.

After getting the tint today, the car looks so much better. I got 20% on all sides and the back for $175. Thanks for catching that URL mistake. The guy who did it, Jason Confurius, was great to deal with and takes pride in his work so very satisfied. But you know I'm in London, right?

Take it easy.

Excellent!

When I was getting tinted today, I let Jason drive my car into the shop and was standing behind ... another chance to hear the greddy from that vantage point ... and it sounds really nice.

So you're using the mazdaspeed rims for warm weather, but getting another set for winter+tire? What are you doing with the OEM set? Just sitting around as ornaments? hehee

I actually like the OEM set better than the mazdaspeed wheels that come with the package. I'm going to use the mazdaspeed rims as winter rims!

Yes, using the mazdaspeed rims for warm weather. But I don't have the other OEM set, the car came with mazdaspeed so I'll need another set for winter. I'd like to know what rims you decide on for summer driving if you use the mazdaspeed ones for winter. Or do you also have the OEM wheels?

Mazdaspeed spoiler installation

There are some posts about installation but I still don't know the definitive answer:

Do you have to drill extra holes if you remove the stock loop spoiler and install the MS wing? Can somebody give the final answer please.

Thanks.

Is there a reason you didn't get the OEM wheels or did the dealership just not give them to you? It's not a "one or the other" deal with the performance package. You get both.

Are you saying that in addition to the Mazdaspeed wheels, I should have been given 4 OEM wheels?

Yes. More correctly, in addition to the OEM wheels you should have been given the mazdaspeed wheels. Your dealership pulled a fast one on you. Go back and 'wtf' them. Also, since you probably received the car with the MS intake, you should have also been given the stock intake pieces. You bought all this stuff. It doesn't belong to the dealer.
