Need some help deciding from the 8 boyz and girlz
Sup guys,
It's getting close, that time to get the 8 out.
First it is going in to get the eccentric shaft seal replaced, then possibly off to the body shop for a repaint (whole car). Here's the question:
I'm thinking about changing it a bit, still WB of course love that colour, but since I might be painting the whole thing adding a little bit of black in there. Basically black up the nose of the front bumper, up the hood, over the roof and down the trunk. I found a sick picture last year of the way I was thinking, but can't find it now I attached an example, but not exactly how I would want it, close.
What do you guys think? The whole roof black, well basically the top part of the car black like this (kinda), I don't like the white lines tho and would run it right down into the grill.

Run into the grill like this.
Here's another one (black doesn't run into the grill which I'm thinking of), but the top is only partially covered.
Guess the idea is essentially from this lol.
What do you guys think? Hot or not, too ricey?
If you know of any good pictures of what I'm thinking of please post up would really appreciate it thx.
Cheers bring on the summer!
And how it is now.

Kinda what I was thinking, little more spice to it, stand out a bit more, but nothing too crazy.
haha Neo Hail damage insurance claim will cover most of it I hope
but which way you think is better? Whole top, just part of the hood trunk?

What about using wrap on top of your new paint after it has settled? Gives you the option to remove it if you don't like. I like the general idea but it doesn need to be done right. Know anybody that knows photoshop that could mock up a variety of looks for you?
Stayaway from CF on the outside, won't look nearly as sharp and a solid black with the awesome WB. Rice or no rice, whoo gives a *****, just focus on what looks good

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
A good looking CF is 9000 times better than just a plain jane black paint. Just look at those high end OEM cars...they have exposed CF not black paint for a reason. Just my opinion of course, you know I am biasssssed lolz
599 FXX ferrari, Zonda F, RS4, etc etc

Also, 599 FXX and Zonda F are not exactly carbon fibre for a trendy look. its all about weight my friend.
again, i mean no offense to you. i relly do like your car.
and mark, i sort of like it. it really really depends how its pulled off though. for example, the pics 9krpm posted, the first yellow one looks aweful (for more than one reason, but lets pick on the black top part, haha). see the hood is black, and the roof and A pillars are black, but it seems like someone didnt realize that the hood doesnt run smoothly into the A pillars. there is a weird shape made by the fender and it looks completely stupid.
the VR at the bottom is alot cleaner. see how the line flows right into the Apillars. Also, im not feeling the painted the trunk for the same reason. the trunk meets the rear glass and rear quarters at some really funny angles. there is no good way to make all these things flow together without really dragging that line down lower and that ends up looking kinda "meh" in my opinion. take the second yellow rx8 posted by 9krmp. doesnt that look strange to you? the line has been put too low on the car or soemthing. the normal lines on the car are all sort of angled upwards towards teh back right, but this line sperating the black and yellow is level with the ground. it sort of stalls the whole flow of the cars natural lines if you ask me. This can look really good, but it has to compliment the original lines, not create new ones.
anyways, just trying to offer some different views on it before you cant undue it man. good luck with whatever you decide to do.

It completely depends on what the owner wants to do with his car. The few photos the Texan added are unique. And I agree with Greg regarding a few points.
I would go with Thunders suggestion. If the car needs paint, paint it the original colour and then do a wrap. Wraps are becoming trendy and this way you don't have to worry about repainting the entire car if you don't like the results a few months down the road.
This being said, I do like the 2 tone arrangement on the 8. It completely depends on how it's executed. Careful with the planning.

There are a few reason for me to go CF style:
1)Its the trend now. Most high end / sports car have exposed CF parts. Of course I know its functional for them in the sake of saving weight. I just want to have that "Style"
2)I am asian I eat rice wtf wrong with rice. Stop hating lolz
3)Again I really like the look of CF even before the trend started ... I have fetish to CF I guess.
4)I want to be different. Spending 3k+ to have the "best" bodykit/front bumper that ends up the same as 5+ other cars here just doesn't suit my style...
Just my opinion of course heh. I may get a CF hood but you know what? Most CF hood for Rx8 is HEAVIER than the stock one. The real one from Speedsource is like 5k+ oops =)
I will try to complete the "CFkit" this summer maybe by adding a CF mirror cover and the front mud guard and aero...I am thinking about the CF hood but worries about driving in the winter under heavy snow and heavy rain in summer...
Anyway....I hate you haters! FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! :P
Peace.

An older non ricer perspective. Carbon Fiber is really cool.....................when its not fiberglass or plastic with a carbon fiber overlay that's heavily clear coated, I believe the current term for that is "poser". Aero pieces are really cool...............when they truly offer function not extra drag and actually slow a car down.
Having been involved in the car show circuit when i was in my teens and building cars that competed in the ISCA (International Show Car Association) its all about the prep work and final paint. When you spend money on prep and the paint has the "deep wet pool look" thats what makes it, not the 2-tone etc.
Just an old guys opinion.
btw....My fake carbon fiber tape is to hold the car together!

your forgetting we live in Canada. its very rare to see a modified car. never mind one modded to that extend. i like the black up the middle. it may be played out on the internet but we had 40 rx8's at the one meet and how many had that design? none.
