yes it is, mine stays on along with my other lights in the on position then flashes a few times, i wait till the flashing is gone before i start my engine, im yet to flood it or have any issues with my 8, only problem not sure if another 8 have this, but my speed intake sucks up water during a car wash or heavy rain fall..

glad you noticed a difference like i said you would. What a mess that whole thing was....i've heard about people getting bad new engines before but didnt quite beleive it until i did the compression test myself on the first new engine....wow.
Hope you arent holding any bad feelings towards the dealership after this whole affair.

Yes sir greg you were right , i was a little dissapointed after the whole first new engine failed , but hey , what can you do , overall the dealership was awsome , Did they do a compression check on this motor , i asked but paul said he didnt know. And how long of a break in period should i do .
like i said, the numbers mean jack **** if its running perfectly. also, the numbers should be in spec but will likely appear low when the engine is fresh because its not technically broken in yet. so there are several reasons the numbers are irrelevant.
we ran the compression check on the failed engine because its a quick way to make sure the fault is the engines and not soemthing we hooked up wrong.
As for break in, there are many schools of thought on this with the remanned rotaries and its more or less a toss up as to which you want to beleive and do. some say no break in necessary. some say like 500km of no WOT and keeping it under 5000rpm or so.
I myself chose to stay pretty far south of redline for the first 1000km and no WOT. absolutely no highway driving/cruise control for the first 1000km. I've always been told that engines need varying loads to help them break in so cruise control is a bad idea to me. I did alot of country driving really. after 1000km i was planning to allow the engine to rev out more but still stay away from redline, but that didnt last long. i couldnt resist once i felt all the power that was up there. So i gave 'er stink a few times but i didnt beat on it. after 2000km, i drive it however i want. I changed the oil alot in that period....cause i can. haha.
also, i didnt want to baby for too long. you know what they say about rotaries, a redline a day keeps the carbon away. and beleive me i can vouch for that. my aux valves on my engine were virtually carbon free, which is more than i can say for any other ones ive seen apart.
Like i said, its really up to you in who you want to beleive. My main advice would be to stay away from long drives with the cruise control on and dont beat the **** out of it for a little while. other than that, it should be fair game for whatever you want to do. oh, and dont go 8000km on the first oil change....that would be a bad idea.
