"new-ish" member intro - with pics!
Hello. Figured I'd give a formal intro as I will be on these boards quite a bit from now on now that I am back in the rotary scene. My name is Ron and I have owned a couple pf rotaries in the past years. Located the north york area, I hope to attend some meets with fellow owners again this year.
I am a long-time member of Toronto Tuner Synciate (Log in) and while some people will have you believe we are a group of ricers, we most certainly are not. Just a group of car enthusiasts who bonded together to form a car club that is open to all makes and models of cars (our vision is uniting tuners regardless of what car you drive.) we have won several awards as the largest club at various CSCS events. You are all welcome to come to our meets when it gets warm.
================================================== ====
A little about my car history:
3 years ago I used to own a 1995 LHD RX-7, all original, with only 25,000kms. I was very lucky to find this museum-worthy specimen. She was so mint! I sold her because I never allowed myself to enjoy the car and was a garage queen: I wonder where she is now? Hope the owner is treating her well:
Here's she is with my rx7 buddies:
Looking for a more suitable DD, I moved onto a 2005 lightning yellow RX-8:
I made a mistake of selling the RX-8 ( i got a 98 240sx ) which was heavily modified and was really unsuitable for daily driving so I got rid of it a few weeks ago. Here's a picture;
Two weeks ago I finally did the right thing and got into another RX-8. She is a 2005 Shinka Black Cherry with 35,000kms:
And I also have a '90 300ZX that I never really drive
==================================
Having owned both generations of RX cars, I know a lot of people say the FD3S is far superior than our SE3P. I dont think this is all true. In terms of power delivery, the FD is definitely better - how can you argue with twin turbos?! :P Handling wise, I'd say stock for stock they are similar. Both are very agile cars; RX7 felt stiffer (and just slightly more planted in corners), probably due to lower center of gravity from the chassis. But for street driving / daily commuting and overall comfort and driveability, our RX-8 takes it hands down. Why I returned to another RX8 was simply because it is more "refined" as a driveable car - which is what Mazda intended I believe. Also, the rear seats comes in handy when you wanna drive a few girls around - I never take **** from RX7 owners because I know that RX8 owners aren't looking for a purebred track car - so to each their own. I can drive for hours in my RX8 without feeling cramped in that tiny FD cabin

Welcome, I have a yellow 04 GT. I thought 04 was the only year for Lightning Yellow. Am I mistaken?
Btw, I am one of the dreaded Noobs. This forum is very helpful. Bienvenue.

Yes I know who you are. I was there!!! But I wasn't the buyer, I was the guy with him checking out the car to make sure he wasn't getting scammed or getting into a problematic car. Your car is excellent! The car is in excellent hands as well I can tell you that. The owner has done some minor mods since (rims, tint) I think.... but overall has kept it very stock-like.
We've been a on few short cruises together too with your FD and my 8.

We miss you in the RX-7 Club, and welcome back getting another RX-8, Ron.....
Yeah, I think you sold your 95 FD to a gentleman from Hamilton. Got to be him, since not much 95 FDs around. I still meet up with him once a while. He also got himself an R-Magic titanium catback, and HKS BOV.......

Welcome!
Are you planning on driving your RX8 even during the winter time? Your RX8 looks really nice! I am also planning on purchasing one soon, but still have to do some research on insurance! How much are you paying for your insurance rate?

Hey Ronald, nice to see you showing up here.
I'm the one you sold the silver RX-7 to.
I'm also still waiting for the windshield that was included in the sale since the original windshield had a crack in it. You've been dodging my calls since after the car was picked up. Can you finish the transaction and give me the windshield?
Please contact me asap, PM, email, or phone.
(Buyer beware when dealing with him for any sales in the future)

Sounds like your first objective should be to finish the transaction you started and give someone back his windshield.
