New RX-8 driver !
Hey All,
I signed the papers to my new RX-8 today ! I just can't keep in place ! I'm supposed to go pick it up next week !
I hope I'll be happy with the car ... I'm gonna have to learn driving from the beginning again since its my first RWD car. (I drifted a little with the salesman in the car today when I test drove it. oups..) Anyway I loved driving it so much that I consider going back to the dealer tommorrow again to give it another spin.
So I'll be driving a silver RX-8 GS in the region of Ottawa! I'll be going to meets for sure if theres any cuz I'd definitly like to take to all of you RX-8 owners.
See ya all and keep the driving spirit !

Congrats!
What year may I ask?
Make sure you get all the TSB's addressed that may be relevant to your car before you leave the dealership.
And apparently a new Flash is on its way so you may want to inquire about it as well. (as well as a possible vacuum test.. )
Have fun! and Keep it beepin!

The car is new, I very, very, very highly doubt that it will have low compression.
Just make sure they do the usual run over, and dont get scared about all the "replace engine" jibber jabber going around these days.

get scared by being slower than 90% of the cars on the road (just kidding 60%)
the car depreciates faster than it accelerates (unless u drop the clutch)
p.s.
somebody had to put an end to all the cheerfulness.
on a more positive note, opening the rear doors in public will results in looks of amazement and admiration from onlookers.

Fortunatley STG, there are far more informed people than Chris on this site that can help you. I had my 8 for a year, and considering that I'm might be the pickiest guy out there, I couldn't feel better about it. Congrats on your purchase.

Hmm, methinks Sir Bangle doesn't like the 8. Oh well. Not for everyone.
The 8 will take some getting used to, but once you've done so, you'll be quite pleased. Congratulations and welcome.

I got it yesterday !! Yeah !
That car is just amazing to drive .. Is it true that the air conditionning turns off when you push it ... cause mine was turning on and off all the time yesterday and the dealership told me that it turns itself off to give more power to the wheels.. (yeah i know, I should wear it in a little before asking to much of it... but I was just too exited .. I'll be calmer from now on ..)
Chris_bangle: I'll be leasing it since it looked the more interresting option for me ..

what?
I have yet to notice that the A/C turns on and off on its own....... Oh, you may want to perform a search on the proper "break in period", and make your own decision on how to do it.
Happy beep'n!

The compressor cycles off under hard acceleration as it should and that's normal, the A/C doesn't turn off . . .
The car has oodles of power, more than you can reasonably use on the street . . . At least if one is somewhat responsible and not interested in accumulating a drawer full of tickets. Besides that, the slowest part of this car is me, it has so much potential . . .
The engine won't have a compression or vacuum related problem, it's new. Most of the problem cars have been automatics and are in desert states. The fix is immanent . . . This is summer number three for me and the engine feels as strong or stronger than day one so I wouldn't get bent out of shape about some of the stuff you read in here. Just don't abuse the thing, i.e. break it in properly, keep the RPMs and power demand low until fully warmed up, after that RPMs are unimportant. Well to a point anyway, the thing can burn a whole tank of gas in a couple hours of play time if you keep it continuously in the power band :-)

Same car, still red, just got some new tires to toss on though. The originals are like hockey pucks now and that's with no famous Danielson smoke shows :-) Speaking of switching cars I assume you didn't move your steering wheel to the other side, can't imagine driving around staring into the ditch all the time . . .
Just give the word when you are heading back and I will make sure there is cold beer and a Mikes sub waiting ;-)
