Welcome to the club!

Alot of SE's on the road nowadays... I've seen at least 4 around my area... then again, there are 4 normal RX-8's just around my sub-division! lol

We have mini-meets around town... keep an eye on the forum for dates...

Id definately like to get to some of those mini-meets this summer, Ill keep an eye out for posts about them.

By the way yesterday I spoke to the dealer about break in period and he told me just dont redline the car or floor the gas for the first little while, apart from that I should be fine.

Ive read posts on here about break in and I agree with the concensus of the first 1000KM to keep it under 4k RPM. My question is Im driving to Montreal from Toronto the day after I pick it up, should I worry about using the cruise right away. I ask because I know back in the day dealers would tell you to vary the speed for the break in period but since there apparently is no break in period according to Mazda Im guessing I shouldnt be worried about cruising on the highway for 4-5 hours during break in.

Welcome to the Boards and congrats on buying the 8. I followed the racing beat break in approach of gradually taking up the RPM and throttle position over mileage. I sped up the process a bit, doing it over 2000km instead of their 3500km

Okay so if driving to Montreal is roughly 1000km round trip and I stay below 4k rpm do you think that would be acceptable for break in? I just dont know how long I can hold out before Im going to want to push the car a little harder considering during the week I dont really drive that often, maybe 150km per week tops.

Ive also read that an oil change after initial break in is a good idea and I plan on doing it but I was wondering if anybody in the GTA could recommend a good garage, Im actually relatively new to the city, moved here a year ago from MTL, Im guessing said garage would have to be certified by Mazda.

Thanks for all the help.
