Maybe it's different in Manitoba, but I un-insure my car over the winter so it costs me 0. My house insurance covers the car while it's in the garage.

Hey Alycia, I put my car on storage insurance over winter. I can't recall the price, but it's approximately $120ish per year. definitely worth it, if you have a good place to park and store!

Sunday's are great for a meet! I'm hoping that the work on my car is finished soon. would be nice to roll with some 8s.
if you'd like to have a get together, I suggest we meet up on any sunday around st vital center? We can chat cars, storage and jets. I haven't been to a game yet

ya if i decide to park it, it definitely is worth the insurance lol i def have questions about parking it, my dad said i could keep it in his garage out in elie, so thats good.
as for meeting up, im good for that and st. v center sounds good. I work this sunday 4-7, unless your good for 720ish, i work on corydon right off of kenaston, so on a sunday wouldnt take too long, then again its thxgiving so you prolly have a dinner goin on, if so, the following sunday should be good if its later in the afternoon? goin to meet my lil half sis way out in ste. annes in the late morning. let me know, would be great to chat and see another 8

It's nice that you'll have a garage to park it! That was always the worst part for me- finding indoor storage, as I didn't have a garage. However, I've been house shopping for a property specifically with a double garage. We'll see this week or next if I get it

Hmm I'm supposed to be going to the cabin in Kenora for T.G. weekend, but I should be back around noon. I'll let you know!
I'll be driving a Ford F-150 with the ol' Canadian flag flapping from the window, as the 8 is STILL at the body shop.

Anyone else down for a meet??

There may be a change to my availability. I'm trying to work that out this week. If all goes well, Sunday the 20th will be better for me. Does that work?

Greetings all!
I am new to the RX8 community here in general and thought I'd drop by and say hello.
I picked up my beauty last week, she's a 2006 MT GT in Velocity Red only 42000kms!
I've picked this up to be my daily so I got some nice blizzak winter tires on there.
I am new to the rotary scene but I am LOVING it so far.

See y'all on the road!

Welcome, Yoheezy! Post some pics when you get the chance!

A bit of an update here: I've finally moved into my new house! I'm now a homeowner of the Noble Lake area (just off the number 2 hwy, south of Wawanesa, MB). So, though I am no longer living in the "Big City", I'll still have the opportunity to visit with my 8 as often as I may (being that I'm not away with work...). She'll even have a few updates of her own, come spring
Hope everyone enjoys their holidays!

wow, bussing in the winter is not the most fun, but honestly parking my 8 was probably a good idea, less hassle and way less cost! Question though: if my car is parked, should i be going out to my dads in Elie to put the battery back on and starting it?
rx8soldier: congrats on the new house, that's awesome. One day i hope to own a home, but for now i think i want to travel. I seen on a thread you have been a few places i'm guessing. I'm hoping to go to china come september, if so my 8 will have to go this upcoming summer :/

You don't need to start it.. that could lead to problems, (more on that later). Just charge up the battery or keep it on a trickle charger for the winter..

Last winter I had a friend who needed access to a garage and because it wasn't snowing, I offered to pull my 8 out and let him in.

I ran the car a few minutes and pulled it out and let it run until it was good and warm. When my friend was done it was late and I started the 8 pulled it into the garage and shut it down.. THAT WAS THE MISTAKE

A few months later I tried starting the car and it was flooded. (you can check out this forum for into on flooding).

All the other years I had NOT started the car mid winter and never once did I have a flooding issue.

Hey all,

Spring has finally sprung and the 8 is finally out of the garage! It's running strong as ever and it breaks my heart to do this; but due to work, a new house and just general lack of free time I am going to be putting the turbo banana up for sale. I haven't officially posted a for sale ad anywhere yet as I said last fall that I would put it up on here first and give a forum member the chance to buy it first and give it a good home.

Anyways the car is a 2004 6MT with various mods highlighted by a GReddy turbo kit that makes this thing the most fun posession I have ever owned! It has only 63,000kms (about 15,000 with turbo) on it and all, I mean ALL mods have been installed by yours truly, meaning this car was built with love not money! It also took alot of money!

I am based out of Saskatoon but I am currently/temporarily working in Estevan, SK; which actually happens to be closer to Winnipeg so if there is any interest generated from this thread I am able to have the car in either location to check it out.

My asking price will be $13,000CAD; and exclusive to Rx8Club members will include: GReddy PRofec B-Spec II electronic boost controller (still in box never installed), stock yellow and Seibon CF vented hood, big ***** puddle lights (still in box never installed) and Hawk Performance brake pads for all 4 corners (still in box never installed).

For pictures and a list of all mods (I will be putting an official list of mods together tonight as I'm sure if I tried listing all off the top of my head I'd miss something) please text 306-281-3910 or email aumiller.jesse@gmail.com. I do have pictures on my phone so it is not a problem for me to text photos.

Also please check out my build thread, link can be found in my signature.

^ Also I should mention that I have the stock cat with O2 sensor just in case it is required for out of province inspection or anything like that. Right now there is a catless, resonated BHR midpipe on the car.

Hi guys. Relatively new Rx8 owner here. I just picked up a 09 R3 in velocity red about a month ago after almost a year of looking and waiting for a good one to buy. I'm loving it so far. Everyone else got their 8s out yet? I haven't seen much action on the forum since winter (by the way its awesome that a Winnipeg specific section got started) although I have seen a few 8s out on the road. Hoping to have some pics of my car up soon. Look forward to chatting or possibly meeting with the rx8 and rotary community in Winnipeg.

Hey guys, great to see there is a forum for Winnipeg. I just bought a used rx8 summer toy. 04 titanium grey. I was wondering if there is a go-to mechanic in winnipeg? Nothing wrong with my 8 yet, but i'd like to have the mechanic on speed dial for when it happens. Thanks! And see u out there!

Hey Welcome

I bought an 08 in March 08 and only have 37,000 KM on it. I have only used Mazda for oil changes and have replaced plugs, filters etc., on my own.

There is a guy on Pembina HWY south of the Perimeter, Fred, he's a rotary engine guru. If he can't fix it he will know who. The last number I had for his was two69-two815

What mileage on your 04 and did it go through the dreaded engine replacement which 90% of all 04's went through?!

100k on the car. how do i find out about the replacement? it's quite possible it went through it, as it drives quite nice. Thanks again for the number.

Call a local Mazda dealer and ask them to check their data base. They will run your VIN and tell you everything that Mazda did to it. If you talk nice they will probably print it out for you.

I'm planning to lay up my RX-8 in Ottawa for the winter. I wondered if there's anything different or special that I need to do before storing this car. At the moment, I'm just planning to take the battery out, put some extra air in the tires, and put in some fuel stabilizer. Is there anything else I should do? The car will be in an unheated garage, and Ottawa gets cold (although not as cold as Winnipeg).

I put steel wool scrub pads in the tailpipes and use some Bounce sheets in the car and the engine bay to keep critters away

This is all I've done for years and have never had an issue starting it in the spring...

looking for help doing de-carbonization

Hello, I own a 2004 rx8, looking for someone to help me do the decarbonization. I understand what needs to be done, just don't want to screw up. If someone is available in the winnipeg area, i would be very appreciative.

thanks!

decarbonization? Can you explain what you want to do? This thing you call decarbonization may be called something else!
