Can you tell me more about the brakes you can get? Slotted/vented rotors etc. That might be something I'm into for the spring/summer.
Do you know those racing beat gauges (3 of them)? I might want to get those and have you install them.
Take it easy.

^ Oh man! Cool. I keep saving all these images you're posting on the tokico stuff so I can go back to them later and see if that's what I want. Looking good.

London - Ottawa Trip/Snow Tires
Hello,
I was hoping you could expand more about your Christmas trip to Ottawa and your first winter with the rx8? I live in Windsor and my family lives in Montreal, so i often make relatively the same trip on the 401...I test drove a car w/ the regular tires today and I went from being 100% sure I wanted the car to a serious concern for my safety. (I grew up in Hawkesbury so I know how to drive in the snow) but man that test drive was brutal - worse than I can imagine. So I just wondering how much a difference just adding snow tires to the car will make? I travel a lot on the 401 to Niagara Falls also, so its really important that its a safe ride. Also, what kind did you put on?
Thanks for any input you have!

I have had to make the drive from London to Ottawa for the past 16 years since I've moved away from Ottawa to teach. Every xmas I drive back to Ottawa to visit family and I feel like I risk my life every time. But I hate to fly or take the train/bus and be without my car, so I risk it.
Anyway, I had the 8 out on frosty roads at the start of this winter with the stock tires on and, as everyone agrees, it was slippery as hell. Got the winter tires shortly thereafter (Blizzak LM22). Since then, I have very little problem driving around town in snow or ice and I feel safer in this car than my previous celica or mx3.
And highway driving in the snow/ice has been pretty decent. On my recent Ottawa trip, the 401 was pretty dry at points and somewhat snowy and slippery at others. For the latter, I drove cautiously and didn't pass many cars. When it was dry, I felt much more confident. In the end, for there-and-back trips on the 401 and in the city of Ottawa, the rx8 was just fine on snow tires. I'd be dead without snows, though.
I will probably always be wary of highways in the winter. Good luck with your highway experiences and stay safe.
