Talking

lol After reading that, I am laughing to myself out loud. Mic, that sounds like a cool idea. I would be up for something like that. if we were to do it, we should all meet before the trip and all cruise together. That would look so cool on the hiway. lets try to get more opions.

Easter weekend is out for me as its a big event for my family. Besides, its the wife's birthday too that weekend. I can actually go BUT I would need to pack a few bags for that one day trip and not plan on coming back home for a few years till the wife settles down.

But Ya, I'm interested in doing that. Since Shannonville track is out there, we could try to wrap that into the trip as well, but the weather will have to be better i.e. May/June.

Sounds interesting, tough on easter weekend though. About getting on the track, can we get enough guys out to offset the price enough to make it affordable? Some pricing info here http://www.shannonville.com.

I like the trip idea, but bad time. Much like Shamble, Easter is a biggest holliday for Catholics, and plus my birthday falls on Easter Monday too.

Well...... we could get the rx-7 guys and the protege club in on it and im sure that would bring the cost down. The only exception is the distance. We got lots of time to plan it. BUT I'M SO IN FOR THAT!

Tracks get booked fast... but they'll still have some days free... The problem is getting enough people interested in the idea...

I know alot of the RX-7 guys would love to come... But everything depends on schedules and budgets!

I'm up for some track time... Hopefully my car will feel the same way...

Easter weekend would be great. I want to register for the HRC Performance Driving School that weekend at Shannonville. http://www.tractechracing.com/hrc/info.htm

It's only offered once a year on the Easter weekend.....I haven't been able to convince anyone to go with me. Any takers? Send me a PM.

Stevo67, it sounds like a great idea! A great way to get some safe track time with proper instructions; especially for those with no experience on the track. Can you find out how many spots are still available that weekend? I would be interested if I could get the time off (scheduled to work those days) and will have to see if I could get coverage.

I just called HRC and they have actually changed the dates for this years course - it is now being held April 7-9 at Shannonville. The person to get the details from (Katia Di Francesco 905-640-1777) was not available - she will be in after 5 pm tonight. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed the BMW Driving School display at the North Hall (Front St.) entrance to the Autoshow.....the head instructor who was on their promotional video is Pierre Savoy - he is also the head instructor for the HRC course! I've spoken with a couple of people with racing experience who say he is one of the best in Canada.
Anyway, sounds like a great course whether you are going to race or just want to improve your driving skills....it would be great to get 5 or 6 RX-8s out there together! I'll get in contact with Katia tonight to find out how many spots are available and if we can negotiate a group rate. I'll post back on this thread tomorrow.

Im most likely going to rent the track with some friends in the spring time, either shannonville or dunnville. Just a warning to most people, its better to spend $80 each, and run the track with fewer people then getting such a huge group....last thing i want is an idiot on the track beside me....

Sometime in April may work for me, but March is going to be really hard; wife birthday, Easter, March break..... you know the drill .... Keep us posted as to when you plan to go.

Going to Belleville isn't the problem... The problem is doing something in Belleville! LOL :D

Last time I was there I was attending the Bridgestone Racing school at Shannonville... Belleville only has 1 strip joint! That's it! The rest are restaurants! LOL

I wouldn't mind going when the weather is nicer... I've had too many bad experiences with long distances in inclement weather...

Otherwise, I'm up for it...

It's "controlled lapping", not racing. They claim to have only had one "incident" in the 20 years they have run the course. I don't have any track experience so I would prefer to take a reputable course before spending any time on a track with a $40,000 car owned by Mazda Canada Credit :D

taking a course is fine. obviously your going to have to do it with other people. I was just commenting that its better when renting a track out for fun, to not have as many people, especially if you dont know them. Good luck at the school, after that, im sure you'll be ready for the track!

I agree completely. If/when there is an RX-8 Club track day, it would be nice to know that your fellow drivers have the necessary skill and knowledge to have a fun but safe day at the track.

You make a good point... It'll be interesting to see how Belleville has changed since I've last been there...

ahhh two can fit in the back seats no problem, as long as the driver doesent mind the steering wheel rubbing their crotch every time they make a turn
