No oil use?

No oil use?
Quick question.
I have had my RX8 for about 2 months now, I had read lots on here about, how to start it, how to shut i t off, how to check the oil every 2 fill ups.
Here is my question.
I had the oil changed at the dealer at 60k their sticker says to come back at 68K
I am now at 66k and have NOT had to add any oil yet.
I still check it every 2 fill ups but it always seems fine
Is this normal?
Second thing (sorry) my center console box "inside" really warms up after a long (1 hour) drive. the change in the bottom is actually hot. is that normal
2005 rx8 automatic 66k
thank you in advance.

I wouldn't say that not having to add oil is abnormal but its not the most common scenario.......when you say add oil....is the dipstick still reading at the full mark??maybe the dealer overfilled slightly so it actually has burned off some oil just the excess so it looks like no oil has been used? And yes ( well on my manual ) the change dish and cup holder get very very warm......tranny is right underneath those areas....also, the change dish has a light that produces a fair amount of heat to boot.

Mine is good on oil as well (knock on wood). I was all paranoid from reading everything on it, was checking it every other fill up and it was good. Maybe not at the full mark, but never below half. I just got an oil change after 5km and the oil was down to half. Since I was getting the oil change didn't bother with adding more. But yes it should be going down!!
Ya...center area gets pretty warm in MT.
Congrats on getting it, take it to the track you will luv it
I do carry an extra bottle of oil in the truck just in case

Thank you gentlemen.
glad to here the warn center console is normal.
When I got the car the oil level looked high ( as in past the high mark on the stick) and after the first service it looked high again. Maybe this is how they do it as not to run into low oil issues ( not sure too much oil is a good thing either)
I keep my spare oil bottle with me, and I will continue to check it.
Maybe Mine just burns less?

Weird why they would add more than what it is suppose to have. I should have checked mine after my oil and filter change. From my understanding (manual) it is not suppose to be more then the full mark on the oil stick. Could always just ask your dealer about it, but I'm sure it is fine.

Zoom Zoom....
Ranch Daddy,
I've gotten into the habit of checking my oil every week under the same conditions (engine cold, parked overnight on a level parking lot). Before I started doing this, when checking at random times, I noticed that some times the level seemed never to move; other times it seemed that I magically 'lost' half a litre.
And, ain't the cup warmers wonderful! It gets warm enough to melt chewing gum. If you're concerned, there is a DIY HERE from Robin Yang to remove the console and add mylar insulation. This reportedly works very well. (The trunk can also use the same treatment).
Enjoy the car....
