The "No Plate" Era is Over
Well it lasted a year, which was nice....but this morning a stern, but friendly OPP officer pulled me over for not having a plate on the front of my car (at 6am to boot...no one else around, I guess he took notice).
At any rate, he gave me the old "do you realize you don't have a front license plate" bit....to which I replied about the "cooling problems" it introduced, etc.
I gotta say he was a hell of a nice guy, gave me a disapproving look, but let me off with a warning telling me to get the plate on there, and that he'd be looking for me in the mornings driving to work.
So - the front plate is going back on when I get home....boohoo, pour a drink out for the 8 tonight.

Okay guys, I just went outside and poured out some "Wild Turkey" for the 8...the era is over, and my beautiful 8 now has an eyesore on its grill.

aahhh. I would call his bluff if your laws are similar to the US. It is just a fix-it ticket here and we just have to show proof that we took care of it. No fine unless we don't take care of it. After you show proof you just take it back off again .

OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) officers are particularly "stern" people, known for being hard asses.
I 100% guarantee you that he'd throw the book at me if I appeared without a plate again.
I'll check out the tint though Wing...not a bad idea.

Where were you when you got stopped? So far I have gotten away without anyone pulling me over......but everytime I go up #6 HWY, with OPP always patrolling or stopped with aradar set up I get nervous.

Got stopped right at Northshore and the QEW...in Aldershot. I'm like you, I've just been nervously carrying on for a year now...and wasn't caught until this week. I've already got 6 demerit points to deal with (2 x 35km/over...none of which in my 8 oddly enough), I don't need additional background noise on my record with the OPP. No points are given for not having a front plate, but it's just another thing to **** him off.

I've not yet been pulled over in my 8. My M3, and before that my MR2, were cop magnets. Got pulled over like 3 times in the M3 for whatever and only received on ticket. The MR2 one the other hand well... let's just say going 160+ mph in a 60 mph zone is not making any law enforcement happy...

Note the 2 tickets I mention above for 35/km over....they were in my 330Ci....the younger brother of the M3 that is also a cop magnet.
This was also my first time getting pulled over in the 8....I think Cops like them, as even this one was kind enough to let me off.

Yeah no cops liked my MR2. I musta had like 3 or 4 speeding tickets in that car and even got pulled over for the tint. I never had stickers on it and was very carefull to make sure it remained a sleeper (had 575 hp) but they could sniff that thing out.
