I agree about the flashy bit. Stealth is good. I actually didn't mind the look of the black winter wheels on mine. I'd like a gunmetal colour rim ultimately but I am not ready to shell out just yet.

Saw another red RX-8 friday nigh down at Pt Pleasent Park!.
Had a custome plate "livelife" or something like that.

Anyone know who has this?

The Park was full of cars that night

Anyone else interested in this?

June 4th and 5th, the seasons first BMW Club Peformance Driving School will be held at Altantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.

No, you do not have to own or drive a BMW. All cars are welcome.

See: http://bluenosebmwclub.ca/schools/schools.html

This is a FANSTASTIC event, and is the best thing you could do for you and your car. Now that you have a capable car, you owe it to your self to learn how to properly drive it.
The morning is occupied with exercises in accident avoidance, braking, classroom sessions etc. and the afternoon is lapping the track. You will have a dedicated instructour with you in the car.

You will have the most fun you have ever had in a car, (or at least this car) and will walk away a much better driver and with a whole new appreciation for your car.

I'm interested, but then, it was my post.

I will be attending, and I've already registered for both the June and September schools. This will be my 3rd BMW School with the RX-8. I've also done the Solo 1 school with it, as well as a couple of open lapping days.
You WILL be addicted.
Put some fresh brake fluid in the car and put the air pressure up in the tires, and she will run all day.

It is worth every penny. Also, since the BMW School is an actual educational event, you will get a tax receipt for the tutition fee.

If you are a local car geek, then you should probably show up anyway. One of the intructors usually brings out his Ferrari 360 on the Sunday, plus the Ferrari 550 from New Brunswick usually shows up. Another instructor has a new Maserati Spider, and another one has a stupidly fast 911 Turbo that is not stock. You get the idea.
Plus you get a really nice mixture of BMWs, Mini's and whatever else comes out. My run-group at the last school last year had a me, an Audi S4, a few BMWs, a Volkswagen Golf, a couple of Mini's and a Volvo in it.

What is the cost of this event and is it 1 day or both days?

The event is both days. Early start on Saturday, and then runs until around 4ish on Saturday and Sunday.

Cost is around $400. Keep in mind that is tax deductable.

This gets you 2 days of personal in-car instruction plus classroom sessions, lunch both days, membership in the BMW club, and most importantly use of the track and the liability insurance. (Probably the biggest expense.) Also, you usually get a shirt or hat or something.

At the end of the day, it's much cheaper then a speeding ticket.

If you are interested, you should probably contact them soon. They limit enrollement to 45 students.

Oh, 3 of the 5 pictures in my vBGarage when you click on my profile are from last summer's schools. I have a ton more if you want to get a little bit more of the flavour.

Here's a link to a downloadable video clip of one of the local IT racers doing a lap of the track: http://www.atlanticmotorsportpark.co...r_amp_150n.wmv
*Edit: Looks like the file is broken at the moment....

Not the best picture in the world, but this is an aerial view:

Hi all,

I believe I am the Ti from Truro that Jasper mentioned.

I haven't checked out this Forum in a couple of months. It was nice to see some local content for a change.

I didn't see a single 8 on the road all winter, and then was passed by the Red "LivnLife" on the 104 a few days ago, and saw a silver on the 104 Monday morning.

Anyway, I would be up for a get together assuming location and timing worked out.

Fenestr8,

You could see anything in that fog on Monday??
That was likely me you saw.
You have the wing on your car, right?

I saw it a bunch over the winter, but I was driving my MX-3.
Since I've got the 8 out, I haven't seen you once, go figure....

Jasper,

Yes, mine has the spoiler.

The MX-3 explains how you were able to pick me off without me noticing you.

How about a get together at the BMW Club Driving School?

Seriously though, nice to meet you (in a virtual kind of way)

You paying Redshift???

I'm afraid putting walls back up in my basement has to take priority over driving schools this year.....

Look at it this way. The one school is cheaper then your gas, membership and entry fees for all the Solo2s, and you will actually get WAY more track time at the school... then deduct it from your taxes.

Walls in the basement are good, especially since Jenn wants to come up and visit your place this summer and I don't want to hang out in a basement with no walls.

The new windows I have to put in the back bedrooms + my "disagreement" with Revenue Canada are taking the place of coilovers, swaybars, lines and screens for me this year.

That's ok.. bone stock with some brake pads is all I really wanted anyway....

True, but I get to spend way more time hanging out with car folk and having fun the other way. Besides, if I went, I'd have to go to the other one, plus the other schools, plus all the lapping days, and would want to do autosprint. Not a might, I would want to. So right now I'm keeping it all at arms length until I can afford to do all of that and not worry TOO much about putting it into the wall.

As far as hanging out in the basement, the boys might take exception to that. We're planning to put their rooms down there.

Glass Tinting?

Anyone here in NS have their windows tinted?

Where is a good place to have this done and what kind of cost?

Thanks

NS regs say no tint in front and front driver and pass side.
What have you got?

My car is tinted all the way around.
Passed 2 safety inspections since I've had it done.
The secret is to keep it blanaced so the front's don't stand out. Plus, the car is very lightly tint all the way around from the factory.

I have mine at 50% on the fronts and 35% on the rears.

Only one guy in the HRM.

Dereck Goldsmith
currently with Trim-Line in Burnside. (He used to be with Superior)

Trim-Line of Nova Scotia
75 Akerley Blvd. (Unit K)
902-468-8746

He has been probably the best tinter in the HRM for years. People follow him from place to place. He's done 2 cars for me over the years.

Hey Guys
I got Apple on Kempt to tint my RX. They do pretty good work and if you have any issues they are really good at making it right. They have done 3 cars in the last couple years for me. They charged 200.00 +tax for the 5 windows (35% from the windshield back) Rays8 seen my tint job the other night @ PPP.
I have the Red 05 RX with LVNLIFE on the plate.

I keep trying to get people together out at Atlantic Motorsport Park, but without any success so far.

I actually got 3 together for a Dyno day 2 summers ago now.. at the time, that was a fairly big percentage of the RX-8 population.

Meet?

I'm up for it also.

I have been going to the meet at PT Pleasent Park on Friday nights.
Usually 2 RX-8 there.

Any location is cool though.
