An Official Hello!
Hi there. Not sure where to start. Most probably won't know me but I've been around the Mazda scene since 2002 with my first car, a 1992 MX-3 and active in the Toronto (now Ontario) Mx-3 Club and participated in the annual Ottawa Mazda Meet until my job put me too far away to participate and apparently those meets no longer happen
Here's a video made by Amur of the 2006 meet that I posted on Google Video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...0399534298660#
(My Mx-3 at 1:20, 1:30, 3:36)
She was a V6, KLZE swapped, H&R springs with Koni adjustable struts, plenty of bells and wistles. She was part race car, part show car with plenty of great memories, but from a blown motor and a rusting body, she was taken off the road in November 2007 with the intention of a crazy all-motor rebuild, but was eventually parted out and her empty shell cut down and taken to the scappers this past summer. Some may recognize my car from ImportFest, Meeting Of The Mazdas and just the regular GTA and Niagara hangouts.
In 2008 I picked up a Supercharged Nissan Xterra as my daily driver and off-road toy and to replace my parents 1990 Mazda 626 that I was using as a winter beater prior to that. Had also planned to use that to tow the Mx-3 to shows and races, but indeed the Mx-3 never made it back on the road. The Xterra was bought completely stock and had of course had a few things done to it including a basic suspension lift, 2" body lift, 32" Goodyear MTR Kevlar tires, sliders and an 8500lb Superwinch,
Back in 2005 I was invited to a Mazda press event at the Dunnville Autodrome where they were showcasing their MazdaSpeed performance parts with having a Speed3, Speed6, Miata and Rx-8 and MazdaSpeed tuned versions of each. The Rx-8 being one of my top pics (next to the Speed3 w/MS suspension). I've loved the car ever since.
Indeed since the Mx-3's been retired I've been itching to get a new car. I've thought about many options, but I kept going back tot he Rx-8. Although in that time, I lost my job and spent a year and a half struggling for work in a fallen economy, I spent a few months as a valet driver at the Hilton in the Falls whick helped me to test driver many cars and confirm how much I loved the Rx-8. I ended up joining the army in spring and since out of basic training, I've been on the lookout for the perfect one. I was set on finding a Phantom Blue Mica 06-07. About a month and a half ago I contacted a member of the Nissan Truck Club, who works as a Mazda dealership in Mississauga, if they happen to have one. He happen to respond that one of his co-workers was selling his and it would be of of the most mint Rx-8's out there, but it was grey with a black/brown interior and that I was currently stationed in Petawawa; too far to take a look. I hummed for that month and a half and eventually realised that a car that's mechanically and physically perfect is way better than to make exemptions on an in-perfect car just cause the color. I was owned by a Mazda Tech, never winter driven and only had 48'000kms on it. Last week I called him to arrange to look at it. Fortunately a buyer had just flaked out. I came home Thursday night for the thanksgiving weekend, did alot of runing around to get ready to look at the car Friday, and Friday night I drove home with a new car!
So after a long story, I hereby introduce you to my newly acquired Rx-8, staying in the Mazda camp and finally a rotorhead!
And that's the last 8 years in a nutshell, lol
Oh, and in case you're wondering, I'm keeping the Xterra and the Rx8 is tucked way until spring...

Welcome...I'm thinking about the Xterra SE as my everyday car...does the back seat fold all the way down into a flat bed?

Happy modding indeed
They do, on the 00-04 you need to remove the bottom seat cushion to have it fold flat, on the 2nd gen (05+) they can as is and even the front seat folts flat and flush to the rest to give you that extra room, kinda neat. The local club's site is cdn-ntc.ca

Indeed that would be my Mx3 I'm up in Petawawa pretty much until December for Xmas, but hopefully you guys will have one then. If not, I'm home every few weekends, mostly to be with the girl, but if one coincides and I have time, I definitely will be there, but not with the Rx8, she's hibernating until spring
I look forward to catching up!

Will (currently forget what his handle was) who used to host the meets and the BBQs at his place afterwards moved to the UK, so things kind of died then. I guess he was the glue The Ottawa guys are still around. Nik and John (EvilRotor) work on a race car (Nik moved out of Ottawa though as well, but still comes around - and he's on here somewhere since he has an RX-8, too) and they spend a lot of times at the track and hang out there. Taylor (Golden RX-7) still has his, too, and the Oshawa guys that used to hang out with us in Ottawa are still around as well. And you see that MyRXBad and Neo are here as well The Ottawa guys have become a close-knit group of friends so they still hang out, but it's not in the form of an official meet anymore. They still play on the rx7club.com site. Not sure if I've met you (remember names and faces better than handles), but I'm EvilRotor's annoying little sister that occasionally hung around back in the day

There I am, front row, far right, teal Mx-3
At Wills place:
Hey man! Ya, I'll miss that car forsure! The Rx-8 will get to that level eventually, but as a replacement to the Mx-3, it's definitely worthy of it!
Can't make it, up in Petawawa
Indeed

If I see you gain, I'll probably recognize you.
If my husband and I end up buying the house we're interested in, then I'll talk to my brother about maybe resurrecting the Ottawa meet. I'd have the house the BBQ with plenty of room for people to crash, and my brother could take care of the cruise part. That would be an idea! :D
