Oh my god! Let me drive my car!!!
Up here in Eastern Ontario, I was able to scrape the remaining ice off the driveway outside the garage where my 8 has been since November. So I figure, today is the day that I will FINALLY get to take it out. But what do I see when I wake up? Snow! This is killing me; I'm sick of sitting in my garage listening to the stereo.

I feel your pain, mine has been in storage since ontober, I live in northern ontario. I still have a build up of ice in front of my garage and can't get the car out. I've been chipping away at the ice today but still am far from getting rid of it. Where the garage is located, the sun doesn't hit the driveway so it's the last place where the ice melts. I've got a tarp over my car so that when I go in my garage I don't see it and it calms my urge to drive it. Hopefully i'll be able to take it out sometimes this week.

Do you live in the same Eastern Ontario that I do? I pulled mine out in time to do the Bellville trek last weekend, several good driving days so far. I parked it yesterday because of snow and I should have parked it Thursday, I got caught in the rain at the end of the day and it was so dirty. The roads looked much cleaner today when I was out so I don't think it will be nearly as dirty the next time it rains. Wait no longer, the time is now . . .

We usually get some snow in April, the roads here are full of sand and it gets dirty fast this time of year. The snow is still melting and the roads have dirty water all over. I still have maybe 3 feet of snow on my front lawn and my daughter was sliding on the snow bank by the road today, I had to put her gt to slide on top of the snow bank and that bank is approximately 6 feet, so we will still get dirty roads for a while.

Hmmm, I bought mine on Nov. 29th/04 and drove it over 3400km's this winter. I'm in the GTA and been driving it quite often down here when the roads are clear. Actually, the longest stretch I had of not driving my 8 this winter was 1 week long.
And yes, I have the summer performance tires on....the same one that are hockey pucks in the cold and perform terribly with but a few snowflakes on the ground.
I just take my slow car (as I call it) when the roads are snow covered.

I had a similar prob but the whole ordeal ended last weekend. Amen to that.
I had parked the car in the driveway (just like I did the year before) with a breatheable tarp over it starting in December. I started getting antsy when the motorcycles started coming out a couple of weekends ago. So I started chipping away at the ice build up in front of it at that point. The front of my garage is facing north so there is only minimal sun this time of year that hits that area. then, last weekend I started pouring buckets of hot water around it, even my wife helped me at one point, she'd fill the buckets inside and I'd empty them around the car. We didn't have a hose because the dog chewed through it last fall. Bitch! Anyhoo, I bought a hose on Monday and attached it to the wash basin downstairs. I started to get discouraged because there was an ice buildup in and around the bunched up tarp in front of the car. Just as I was about to give up, I gave the tarp one last tug and it gave. Yippee for me, I ran in the house and shut of the hose and rolled it back up. I ran to the phone and called the insurance co. so that they can put the coverage back on the 8; wouldn't you know it, the insurance co. was closed Easter Monday. Bullshit I say.
Anyway. I called them first thing Tuesday morning at 8:30 on the dot but had to wait all day until I was done work. I raced home in the rusted out 1990 Camry and jumped in the rx-8 (talk about extremes in transportation eh?) I hadn't driven for a minute when I had a kid yell out "Nice car man." I was so used to "Get that rusted piece of $#it out of the way $&*ker-head!" and "Your car stinks... literally."
It makes me notice that the 8 is as smooth as silk in accelerating. I also notice that I tend to speed more easily. "Honestly officer it wasn't my fault, the car made me do it."

I live in Orangeville, however I'm in Japan right now till the end of the week. The wife tells me we have 30cm or more of snow. She is actually taking pictures which scares me because we have lived in the Orangeville area most of our lives and snow accumulation isn't new to us. <things that make you go mmmmmm>
Anyways I was hoping to go for a spin in my 8 when I got home this Friday (Apr 8th I believe) but it doesn't sound like it.

I was thinking of using hot water to melt the ice, since I have a hot water tap outside(where I live we don't have a place to wash our cars so I do it at home with a pressure washer in winter). It is supposed to rain the next 2 days so that might take care of the ice if there is some left after i'll make sure to get rid of it.

Southampton Report
I'm a twelve month driver and we get lake-effect snows.
My biggest problem is a $1209 replacement left front fender due
to ice following off mother-in-law's eve April 21st. The dent is right on top.

we get so much snow here that even with snow tires it's not worth taking the car out. I don't see pavement in town all winter long, we get to drive our snowmachines(sleds) all winter long in town. I started it tonight for the first time since october and it started right away, man did that ever feel good. Got rid of the ice in front of my garage door. Too bad I didn't put the insurance back on today, I would have taken it for a ride.

Ok - tonight's the night. The battery's gotta full charge and there is no snow on the driveway. I'm going to drive it around to the other driveway, hose off the winter garage dust and then drive over to the gas station to pay over $1/L for premium gas.
I'm so excited, I think I just peed a little.
By the way, Ottawa guys, up here in Pembroke the lawns still have snow.
