Oi leak

hey guys just looking for a little help, so i just noticed the other day that i had some oil leaking, the dealer as usual topped up the oil a bit too much as i checked the oil level, my question is if oil is topped up can this be the cause for the oil leak? the service guys at my dealer are a bunch of lemmings who have no clue on what thier doing, shud have never got the car from dufferin mazda as they are probably the worst dealership when it comes to knowledge and priceing, lol only reason i go thier is cuz they threw in free oil changes in my package....when i questioned them on the leak they said they put a seal on around the oil cap and that i might need a new oil cap as the oil may be comeing out from the oil cap and then dripping down, and that they may need to fully service the engine to find out the problem, and that they may need to do another oil change to drain the oil which make no sense cuz they just did the oil change, i didint notice this oil leak in the past which is why i think it may be cuz the geniuses at dufferin topped up. thanks in advance

p.s i checked my oil cap seems to be fine

If they just did an oil change, that would explain it - removing the filter the wrong way will spew oil all down the back and side of the engine, which then takes weeks to finally drip off.

Ya what stealth said. Monitor it and keep checking levels to see if it is going down to fast. Could it be your oil pan? Gasket is replaced for free under warranty.

Yes, seal around oil pan has no gasket - it's just some slime, and leaks are common.
The connector on the drivers side of the pan is for the level sensor, and mine has leaked and been replaced.....

OK, maybe yours has a gasket, but every other Renesis doesn't.

Page 01-10-46 in the manual.

...and be "Careful not to fill the bolt holes with sealant, you'll crack the housing."

Gasket is RTV...and in this application it is actually better than a gasket

Likely that they made a mess and didn't clean it up

or filled it too fast and it spilled into your intake (04's)

Best thing is to clean it up and see what happens....

Quick question-- filling the oil too fast can result in oil getting into your intake?

EDIT: Nevermind, I used that nifty search feature nobody ever mentions to find out how that happens. That explains the oil in my own intake found yesterday. Awesome..

Yeah, no gasket. I just got my pan re-siliconed at Scarboro Mazda last week.

No More "Car-Burning-To-The-Ground" smell every time I get off the highway!
