and i want to sell the car back because it wasn't the car i initially pre-ordered, Blue , Moonroof + Nav! After looking at all the options available, I'd rather go with factory nav!

I preordered my car in February, my dealer or Mazda messed up on the order and as a result orginal car ordered was not coming until September. Dealer gave me another car and included the Nav system for free. I took delivery on Sept 2. After many calls to Mazda and my dealer they agreed to cover the car and I just got my letter yesterday.
After seeing the negative posts re gas mileage I am really thinking twice about keeping the car.
Does anyone know what Mazda will do with the buybacks?

what Mazda is doing with the buybacks
Hey MazdaRX8:
I think if you read through Wing's posts he said that Richard (the executive from Mazda I mentioned in my post) said they were going to be sold off to Mazda employees.
Why did you ask, do you want to buy it back for less money?
About the gas mileage, Richard told me that if it is sucking gas because of the ECU program then they won't have a fix for 8-12 months. Your decision if you want to put up with bad mileage that long. We have decided we won't and that's why we are getting a G35 coupe which is supposed to get double what we have been getting (16L/100km). To put it another way Toronto-Montreal return $150. I can almost fly for that. Good Luck with your decision!

Not sure if the ECU fix is for sure or not, but he said they were looking into it, but if there WAS a fix it would be that long.
Got a '94 subaru impreza today to last the winter. I'll get something else next year.
Now I'm REALLY hoping they get my letter on time! I mailed it Thursday xpresspost, next day but it didn't show up yet?

I called Canada post they said it can take 48 business hours for the computer to update... what's the point of tracking then?
I then called Richard and left a voice mail. I wanted to confirm that YES he did receive the letter. If not I'll mail another copy out this aft via fedex or something.

I met with the executive that is in charge of the buyback program. He's a nice reasonable guy named Richard Panneton, xxx-xxx-xxxx-xxxx, e-mail: xxx-xxx-xxxx and he sat down with me to hear my reasons for returning the car. On behalf of the forum I gave him an earful.

Apparently he received a flood of messages..
I think " too bad" as frankly the wholepoint is that if we make our feelings clear to Mazda then maybe the message will get through..
Still, it is rude!

Oh well, at least our voices were heard. I sent a lengthly polite e-mail and he returned my call. My case may have been a little different as he already had my file on hand because of my previous issues with the dealer.
He has been more than courteous to me.

I made up my mind. I love this car too much to give it back.
Its a well made car, I really enjoy driving it, and It's cheap on insurance.
The only part that disturbs me is the gas consumption. Buts that still not enough for me to give the car back. I like the fact that not so many people have this vehicle. I see tons of 350z's and S2000's. I rarely see the Rx8’s anywhere.
After extensive research, I felt like the Rx8 won me over the 350Z and the s2000. It gives me what I need in a car. I'm not dissing the 350Z or s2000 at all. I think they're remarkable cars. I feel that the 8 stands out of the crowd of them (at least for me).
I work hard, and I want my daily commute to be one I enjoy every time I drive or leave work. I think I deserve a great looking car with all the toys, and I got it with my 8. Doesn't hurt that I might get a Mazda speed package for really cheap .
To all those returning your 8's.... good luck. I hope you find a car that will bring you the enjoyment the Rx8 brings for me. Don't be a stranger to this forum...

I am struggling with my decision. I am really worried about MPG, however, worst case I figure it will cost me an extra $70 per month. Not cheap certainly but not a deal breaker.
My biggest problem is a deal I made on a second RX. I got a discount price on the second because I sold them my RX7 at a $1000 discount to get the RX8 discounted.
Will Mazda refund my deposit and the difference of the discount from my trade?
Any help will be appreciated.

Write down the things u like and dislike about the car then keep the 5 things u like most about the car and 5 things u dislike the most.
Then from those 10 items place the most important factor at the top and least important at the bottom. Then place a 10 next to item 1, if its a dislike thing, make it a -10 or a +10 if it's positive. Add a 9 to item number 2, same +/- idea......
then add it all up... if you have a + total, maybe u should keep it
it might not help, but could be a good way to rethink your decission
show us the list when you are done

Hehe... can't say I'm not a decision maker.
BTW, did anybody else notice that the envelope they give you is too small to fit the form into?
I wonder if they just didn't want anybody to respond.
