Ontario Autoslalom Bronte Go Station-6/17 and 18
If you live in the GTA and have considered autocrossing your 8 come and take a look at the CASC Ontario region events that will take place in the Bronte Go Train Station parking lot on both Sat June 17 and Sunday June 18. There will be at least 80 vehicles and a full day of racing starting at about 10:00am until about 3:00pm each day. I run my 8 in the B stock class as a novice and have had a little success and lots of fun. Stop by and I will explain how it works and how you can get involved. It is inexpensive and is a blast. See you there.

Really? They're having an autocross event at a GO Station? Is Bronte's big enough for such an event? It's been a while since I had to take the train there but I don't recall it being as enormous as some Clarkson or Oakville...

Yes, the parking lot is large enough, in fact it is used regularly by the corvette and Mazda clubs for their events. I was at a Mazda event last Sunday that attracted 80 cars, including a Lotus Elise, Lotus super 7, Morgan plus 2 RX-8s, Mazda3, Mazda6 numerous Miatas, Subarus of all types etc. The Saturday event is put on by the Corvette club so there is sure to be a number of vettes and Sunday by the Honda club so there will be Acuras and Hondas in addition to the regular Ontario event there were 2 Cobra replicas and a fully rece preped 1970 Datsun 240Z and a fully preped VW Scirocco. Lots of interesting cars and continuous on track action.
Yes you need a helmet to enter and you need to be a member of a CASC club to enter. There are usually loaner helmets available. If you want to enter you will need to fill in some forms. Go to www.solo2ontario.com to check it all out. If you want to watch and learn then just show up and chat with the drivers. If you come early enough (9:30 to 10:30) you could get a ride with one of the entrants in their early runs but in general people want as little weight as possible for the later runs. # runs depends on the # entrants, there must be a min of 3 and max of 6. This will be a well attended event so maybe there will be 4 or 5 in the day.

If it is a club event like the MSOC (Mazda Sportcar Owners Club) event it is #30.00 for the day and includes lunch. For the Mobil1 Ontario Regional event like this weekend it is the one time cost to join a CASC affiliated club ($40 to $60 / yr) then $30 to $50/event. If you want to be eligible for the annual points title you need to enter the series for another $35/yr. In summary: There are 6 MSOC events per year @$30/ea =$180.
For Ontario regionals it is club entry fee of$40, Series entry fee of $40 + 10 events at an average of $40 each = $480.
If you want to run this weekend you need to join a club and enter the event without joining the series ~$80
