BC Passed AirCare Without a Cat

My '04 RX8 just passed Air Car without a friggin' Catalytic Converter!

My insurance is due a few days from now, and had to get it Air Cared. Problem is, I've got a few mods: MS CAI, Full TurboXS Exhaust w/Race Pipe (resonated, NO Cat), GarageLine Header, and MazdaManiac Tune. I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing the stock Cat, then removing it afterwards. So I decided to chance it, and go through Air Care Testing with Race Pipe.

Drove in, passed the visual inspection - which totally baffles me, considering I don't even have a Cat LOL. Perhaps he thought the resonator was a Cat? Then it passed the OBDII testing - thanks to the MazdaManiac Tune (masks all emissions codes).

With AirsCare ending in Dec. 2014, hopefully this is the last time I'll have to go through this cash-grab.

yeah well, a simple visual inspection to do an emission test on a vehicle is complete bullshit if one is to find out the efficiency of a vehicle's emissions.

If they did a proper test and calculated what's coming out of the exhaust as they do in Ontario, there's no way in hell you'd pass. Consider yourself lucky you don't live where I do.

Out here in GVR, 1998 and newer vehicles just get a 'visual inspection' + OBDII test for emission codes. Visual + Sniffer test for '97 and older.

The new emissions tests in Ontario as of 2013 are exactly the same. All OBDII vehicles just checks for codes. Older vehicles have to pass a 2 speed idle test.

Yeah, I take back what I said earlier. I had go in for a test myself, and passed with no cat whatsoever - just a racing beat resonator. I love how the government must think this is progress... lol

I used to have a '91 626 Turbo, and the only way to get thru Aircare,
was take the tank down to fumes, then throw in 3 litres of methyl hydrate.(cheap
at the paint store). You would think they would be suspicous when they got
nearly no readings from an old car.
