For new? No, they won't go anywhere near that... *maybe* 40500. Wait a couple more weeks for the 05, and you might get them lower. Don't forget to add taxes.

I just got my 8 used for 36980 (4600KM on it) last weekend (plus GST+PST). Spent a lot of time at Signature Mazda looking to make a deal. Best I could get was around 37000 for their Yellow Demo model (that had been driven by the manager), which had 7-9000KM on it. They were asking 39,000+ for it.

Hey guys. Spoke with the dealer today. I'm in the market for a GT manual w/ moonroof (no nav) and the price quote that we are at is $43 300 (including taxes and such). He's "throwing" in wheel locks and spoiler. I think that the before tax price is about 39 800 or so.

As some of the guys on the forum suggested, I opted out of the window etch (saves couple of hundred). What do you guys think about that price? I know it usually goes for 45K.

If that's brand new, that's a pretty good price. Mine was 42K or so all in.

I believe that the window etch is what the dealer "throws in" to give the car more "value". They basically "scribble" some serial number onto your windshield and "register" it. It's supposed to provide extra security in the case that your car is stolen (they can find it faster?). Bah ... if the windshield is replaced then you're screwed (i think).

the window etching is one of those things the dealer tries to sneak in to make an extra few hundred extra dollars off the sale - like the "permanent wax" or "interior protection" or the overpriced undercoating ...

The 2005 model price is higher than the 2004, but only by a few hundred dollars. Also I don't think you'll be able to get the brand new 2005 for dealer invoice as you tend to be able to on the 2004's.

I bought my GT in Calgary a little over as month ago. I have all the option except roof and nav.....I got a pre-tax price of $38,500. I had been dealing with one dealer and didn't like their attitude so I phoned directly to the business manager of another dealer and he gave my $2000 less over the phone over what the first dealer was offering.

Be leary of the bait and switch. The first dealer I taslked to tried that with me. They tried to have me believe that between Saturday @ 3:00pm and MOnday morning @ 10:00 they sold the model I was looking at but I couls have a "deal" on a fully loaded model....bite me!

I checked and the car was still in their back lot with no sold tag on it.

You have to name names. Who was it who tried to screw you, who gave you the good deal? There's no point in protecting them - it's us against them! We need this sort of information out in the open!

Ok Fine......The company I work for is doing the new furniture in the new dealership for Kramer Mazda. So I was dealing directly with the owner. (He also owns North Hill Mazda and a small peice of Sunridge). So he tells me to deal direct with his business manager. I honestly don't think he cared whether he sold me a call or not.

Sunridge Mazda was where I bought the car from. Their attitude was way better. That alone made my decision beofre the price reduction. Even the test drive policy is different. At Kramer they has a set loop and the salesperson drives half of it. At Sunridge I showed up, he threw me the keys and told me to have it back beofre closing....much better.

so after taxes and all how much did you get your GT for? My guess is roughly 41 K? did you get any goodies thrown in like spoiler, accents, etc? Thanks for the input.

I didn't get any googies thrown in. We just worked on cutting the price more. The dealer paid some of the taxes. (environmental fees and credit card fees - got my points)

The whole thing came to a little over $40,500. I may have been able to get more out of them but overall I'm hapy with the deal and the way in which they conduct their business. I can't say the same thing for the way Kramer conducts their business.

I'm not sure if you are in Calgary, but if you are so to Sunridge and tell with the business manager Tony McSorley. If you deal with a salesperson their markup structure is different. Also, I found it useful to get to 9/10 of the deal and them tell him that you are going to have to think a bit more and come back in a day or two. That was good for another $500 off. They generally don't want you to leave without closing.

I also first dealt with Kramer, but they pissed me off with the stuff they started adding on after we shook on the deal. A friend of mine, who's a car sales manager at a non-Mazda dealership, was with me for some of the dealings, and even he was pissed off with Kramer for trying to pull the salesman crap on him!

So I bought from Sunridge. Tony McSorley (the business manager) also started charging me for stupid stuff (window etching comes to mind), but I had that reversed.

I've been dealing with North Hill for years for service (my MX-6 was in their hands for almost a decade), so I'll continue to use them to service the 8. They gave me the M-flash with no hassles.

I'll remember that for servicing. Its closer to my place anyway. Tony was great with me. I fully expected all the ad on tricks and he did present them (as he should) but as soon as I said no, that was the last I heard of it. So far the jury is out on Sunrdge's service department. My car is in there right now for a problem that they can't figure out. They are flying a guy in frommToronto to look at it. Its been there 4 days and I miss it alot. It took me 2 week to miss my wife.

I've been using Kramer for service, but will probably switch when they move down south - from Silver Springs in the NW, that's simply too far! I had used Sunridge for a few Miata jobs back when they had a mechanic who specialized in them and was a member of the Miata club, but haven't been there since the change in ownership (3 years ago). North Hill seemed to have the grimiest service department, and I was always worried about their tiny parking lot and my car getting dinged while in their care, so I've never used them for service before, BUT - if they've got good rotary mechanics, and take care of the cars (ever get a door ding, or similar, there?), then I might have to give them a chance. It's certainly more convenient for drop-off and pick-up!

One thing I am am in the process of doing is dojng some back ground searches on each dealer such as ownership, financial business practices. I'm getting ready for what I think is going to be a battle over my dead car. I did find out already that Sunridge has an unacceptable rating with the Better Business Bureaus. They are the only Mazda dealer in town that has this poor rating. As I get more info, I will share it with you....that being said, I still found the sale process was much better at Sunridge over Kramer......the jury is still out over the service. I shouyld find out more info today.

It's too bad that they're moving. I've never gotten a ding from them. Yeah, they have the grimiest work area and the least space, but the work they do is good and their staff have always been friendly and helpful. The other thing about them is that they offer shuttle service to downtown, and Sunridge just gives you a C-train ticket and shuttles you to the station.

Hmmm. SirLeNerd uses Kramer for servicing, and he says he knows the mechanic by name, and only uses that one guy. Perhaps I'll have to chat with him about that.

No, no, it's Kramer that's moving! As far as I know, North Hill is staying right where they are on Centre Street (it's too bad they didn't snap up the building from Charles English Motor Cars, the Jag dealer, when they moved to Barlow).

I might have to shop around - maybe give North Hill a try for my next free oil change!
