Problem discovered while solving the hose out of gas tank issue

So my "renta husband" who is extremely mechanically inclined worked last evening to get the hose out. I know Raquel is in good hands with him, as he really wants to inherit her in the years to come.

Tried the pick up tool...nope.
Tried the wire 'V"....nope

He finally ended up jacking her up, taking her apart, and finally success....the tube is now out.

But, there is potentially bad news......

He tells me that there appears to be a stress crack on the drivers side body mount, directly above the axle.... (like this is Greek to me - no offense intended Helas)

He says that maybe it is just a case of "flux from the weld" not being cleaned prior to painting....flux may have subsequently fallen off and with it the paint - exposing the metal to moisture and resulting rust or it is what it looks like it might be....a stress crack.

Now what? My baby has barely been driven (still under 10K after 15 months)....my regular dealership can't even get my strakes level for heavens sake......can't possibly trust them with something that might be a real fix required. Which dealership do I run this one by and not get totally bamboozled because I haven't a clue about cars, and was born the other gender. Would something like this be covered under warranty?

I will try to post a pic of this when I'm back in Toronto.

Stress marks?? The car is new and never driven in the snow?

Do you have any pics?? I think I know what you're talking about, but we'll need some pics to get a better idea what we're dealing with...

Good news on getting the hose out! Kudos!

As far as the other issue, for sure it would be covered under warranty. I suggest you bring it in (with husband in tow) and explain your concern to the dealer.

By the way, which dealer are you using, that hasn't a clue on how to get the strakes level?

Husband is a rental, he belongs to somebody else....can't deploy him during regular service hours.

Dealership is Morningside Mazda......can't level the strakes that they put on lopsided - (Shamblerock can confirm....drivers side is definately lopsided), and it took a year + 3 attempts to get the drivers side mat peg - after calling in advance, arranging to "make it so", only to get there, and they didn't have it. Finally had to get "irate" on site for them to take one from a new car on the lot. Of course they were unaware of the flashes, and I don't even want to ask about the TSB's. I really hate taking a vacation day to sit at a dealership to get what I need done, done.

Can you imagine, if they can't deal with the stupid little stuff, what they would do with a potentially material problem? Probably nothing....they'd just send me on my merry way. Perhaps this might be considered slander, but it is my experience anyhow,,,needless to say, my faith in that particular service department is non-existant.

Now that I'm back from Montreal, I'll go see if I can get some pics of what my rental is talking about....
