PRODUCT REPORT --Brake Rotors
Every once in a while we test a product on our race car. We use a lot of OEM parts especially when it comes to the brakes. I have tested drilled brake rotors and all of them have cracked within 15 minutes of on track duty. Keep in mind these are not monster Brembo's etc, these are stock diameter replacement rotors. We recently tried a set of Power Slot rotors and they were great! After 35 minutes of racing they have minimal wear, and a great surface pattern on them. The best part is they cost about the same as the OEM rotors. If anyone is interested in them let me know!

There are a number or reasons drilled/slotted rotors were created, and probably many different opinions (lol). The main benefits in my opinion are: Allows the gases created from the pads on the rotors a place to escape, allows heat to dissapate faster and helps keep pad clean. For street applications only..................they look cool! (lol)

Zoom Zoom....
sorry #84... I should've been more specific. I know the marketing stuff, but was wondering what you've seen quantifiable with your car - ie: "i can brake 50 feet later into the last turn before the straight; brakes 10 degrees cooler after a session; can do 5 hard laps without fadiing instead of 4; pads don't come off the backing back in the pits"; etc.
TIA.
TIA.

Honestly the race we ran was at Mosport, where brake temps are never an issue. We are only on the brakes hard twice a lap, turn 5 and turn 8, the rest of the time we just breathe on the brake pedal. Once we run at Shannonville I will have a better idea. We have never faded or overheated the stock rotors at any track so braking performance wasn't an issue. I was looking for better wear of pads and rotors, I think I might be able to get 2 seasons out of these instead of one. We use Hawk brake pads and we use the Blue compound, which I definately don't recommend for street use at all. After about 8 track days the pads are worn to about 1/2, but the rotors are worn below acceptable thickness for what we do. Im hoping the Power Slots last longer.
