Pulling 8 out of storage....

Hey guys,

I'm finally pulling my 8 out of storage for the summer and I have a few questions on it:

1) Once I put the battery back and take it out for a few runs, is it good to redline it a few times (once it's warmed up)?

2) I still have 3/4 tank of 6 month old gas with fuel stabilizer in the gas tank....should I drive it hard to burn that off or the gas won't affect anything?

Sorry for the noob questions guys....just taking my car out of storage for the first time.

Thanks and God bless.

Ben.

Sta-bil'd gas is fine. But of course "a redline a day ... (once warm)."

You should also reset the DSC if you're reconnecting the battery, otherwise you'll get icons lit up on your dashboard that won't go away.
There are some threads regarding this, but its kind of hard to find with all the information that's accumulated, but it's in your manual also. It should be under DSC.

I ran mine hard when I put it back on the road. I had stabilized fuel in it. Burned off the tank as soon as I could. I kept redlining it as often as I could until the tank was gone.

I also blew my engine!!! But that's another story! https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/my-8-died-last-night-195473/

ditto, but didn't blow the engine, maybe this weekend at Calabogie will do the trick. (I hope the hell not! Too far from home turf)
Have fun summer does not last!

Wow Scoot RX-8, it's truly an act of God alone that you got your engine covered by Mazda. Glad to hear you'll be back on the road soon. SlowLude, I looked up resetting my DSC and basically all I have to do is turn my steering wheel all the way to the left, then all the way to the right a couple of times, turn it off and after I turn it back on, the ABS and DSC lights should stop blinking on my dash. Thanks for all the advice and help guys.

Related - I fired up my garden tractor this weekend after sitting all winter with a full tank of Sta-bil'd gas (and battery left in place with no charger btw) and it fired up first turn of the key.

Sta-bil is good stuff.

Hey guys,

So thanks to God, everything went well on Friday when I pulled out my car. I had to jump start the battery but the 8 ran well. The following day, I had Oakville Mazda do a lot of stuff:

1) 96K service (which is the really huge service consisting of a manual transmission gear oil flush, etc...)
2) Put on my new Hercules Raptis WR1 225/45ZR18's including balancing.
3) Had four wheel alignment done.
4) Installed four cross-drilled and slotted Stoptech rotors with 4 Hawk HPS pads.
5) Installed new engine air filter and cabin airfilter.

Since I purcahsed all the parts, I was only paying for the labour which came to just over $1,000 with the RX8club.com member discount at Oakville Mazda.

The guys at Oakville Mazda are really cool in supporting our RX-8 community, but there was one major problem, which I'm starting a new thread for, so please check that thread for details.

I'm posting pictures of my new tires and brake rotors.
