Question about front brake wear indicators
So this summer i went out and bought some Hawk HPS pads for my car. Just recently when i would turn full lock left i would hear a scretch just like a wear indicator would make.
A couple of weeks ago i had to do a very hard brake and the abs kicked in hard and then after that i would hear a terrible screetch when even lightly touching the brakes.
Recently took off the calipers and and looked at the brake pad. Obviously they had tonnes left because they are basically brand new, however, the wear indicator would still touch the rotor as if the indicator was too long for the pad or something like that.
To fix this problem i just took the indicator off and all is well, no scretching, even brake balance when doing hard braking, however, now i notice that the outer centimeter or so of this rotor is much more polished and bright than the rest. I have probably been running them like this for about a month and i don't think that i noticed this polished outer ring before taking the wear indicator off the right pad. The pads did not look worn more on one side or the other.
All the other rotors seem to have even wear.
Do the wear indicators do more than just indicate the wear, ie. help guide the pad in and out smoothly? i should also note that the front left also does not have the wear indicator.
Thanks for any info,

^ agreed.,....I bent mine and just bent it back as well.........the polishing on the outer edge isn't that weird but if you want to be sure take the pads out and look to see if they are even ( as in they weren't bedded in incorrectly and they sit with the top of th pad touch continuously?? ) other wise if the rotors are still smooth and aren't uneven then its should be fine.
