Hey, we all would like greater performance, but dude… sometimes it's more about what's good for everybody. Some regs are stupid, but not tnis one. Kids breathe the air, too.

LA before cats:
Valid points.

Population growth is as much of a problem or more than the pollution I put out from my catless midpipe.

One is just easier to get conceptualize than the other.

Maybe we should restrict the number of children allowed within a certain population density.

Anyways it's all a thought exercise.

If I registered my car 20 minutes north of my current location I the Drive Clean test wouldn't apply.
The regulation changes the further you are from a large population density. AKA Toronto or Ottawa

Hows this for a double negative, in Connecticut if you own a car more than 25 years old you are exempt from emissions testing

Same here in Ontario. They label them "Classic" cars.

Negatives on Engine for going Catless?

I was talking to a tech that specializes on Rotaries and he mentioned that one car that came in to their shop had their engine messed up because of him going catless. According to him. When u go catless and u stay on stock everything, the engine has to Compensate for the less restrictions of no cat making the engine stress more and causing problems since everything is stock and made to run with the pressure of a cat. Another tech i talked to today said otherwise. So who should i believe

Cat delete doesn't hurt anything.
Many of us have been catless for years.
Never heard of anyone claiming it causes engine failure, that's BS.

OEMs are over $2k now.
I have the BHR resonated midpipe, not cheap, but durable and no raspiness.
Worth every penny.

That doesn't sound right.

Cats don't add that much restriction anyways. The reason why people remove them is that RX-8 ones can plug up quickly, especially if you don't keep the ignition system in check.

If you don't have to worry about inspection and can live with the smell, yeah, you can go catless.

Anyways I just want to know if this is a good idea or not. Also please don't tell me to just get a hi flo cat. Thanks!
Took mine off. Couldn't stand the smell and the fumes. The sound was amazing running it with the full RB catback exhaust and the flames were a bonus. BTW PM me if you're interested in buying mine, just used it for one summer.
