rant: not going to Kramer Mazda

Just came back from Kramer trying to book a service and have a few outstanding issue to go over, but it ended up being pretty frustrating... sorry this is probably going to be pretty long.

So a little background info, I had an oil change last Sept ( i know, long time ago), and told them to check my brakes for squeaking + my sun visor broken. So they told me there is a recall on the brakes and will order new pads for me under warranty, but they have to be overnight'd from Toronto and will give me a call when they arrive. So i waited and they never called ( not according to caller ID as well), and I didnt bother because I figured i would wait until the next oil change so I get everything done in one appointment... oil change, visor, brakes...

so today I finally had a chance to drop by, first the guy looked at my like I'm some ******* crashing a party... he asked me when I want my oil change, and I said the earliest Tues or Thurs will be perfect. He stared at me without saying a word... then said " well .. when?" in this ugly attitude, like I kicked his dog or something.. so I said any Tues or Thurs... he gave me the stare again.. and said "well when??" .. ok watever. I said " ok.... wat about Next tues, the 11th"... he clicks 11.. then stared at me again for like 20 secs.. sounding frustrated and said" well wat time?!?!" .. "oh... 8?" .. " what 815" "sure"...

so he asked me if there is anything else .. I told him I had a sunvisor and brakes on order under warranty from 4 months ago and i never got a called, wondering if those have arrived yet... Without checking he just say .. again.. in a very frustrated attitude. said no way they would've gone back... . then he stared at me for 30 secs.. and pulled my up last service record. He saw my last appointment in sept , suddenly got more pissed off and said thats not 4 months ago!! ok. i'm sorry 5 months ago. my mistake? either way... he put that order in.. and asked me what else. so i told him my DRL is not working at all, and asked him if it is possible that both lightbulb go out at the same time... then he told me yes in this ugly attitude like I was some retard and asking him what's 1+1.... he said it wont be cover under warranty and the dealer charge $24/headlight to swap the bulb + diagnostic fe...... Ok watever I told him to put it in but I'm thinking I will try to swap it myself later... in this grumpy grumpy mood he entered that order in..

so he asked me wat else.. i said my right tail light is showing condensation... first thing he said was okay thats not under warranty... I was like how come?? then in this pissy mood and talking like i'm some crack addict asking for money, he said there is condensation probably because the tail light is broken and thats not under warranty.. well i said obviously if I smashed my light thats not warranty.. but watever at this point i was getting really fed up w/ his attitude... i dont even want to bother anymore.. so i told him to put that on the list.

So then I told him about the brake pads, since he said they are probably returned after few weeks, can he order in again.. without looking at anything he just told me there was no brake pads on order, he can order and it will not be under warranty. So I told him it was on order last time, after they did a brake check and found that there was a recall on them..he immediately got even more irritated and told me I only had an oil change and oil change doesnt include brake check (duhhhh)... well I told him to check the record, its there... he opened up the service list again, and just said " No, just an oil change, no brakes"... i'm looking at it and was like " no. its right there. see. Brake check.. - $0... Pads on Order - $0..." then he sounds really frustrated now ( and I as well), and told me it wont be under warranty cause its over 20km on the car and its not covered.. I said I know but you guys told me there is a recall on it and thats why you ordered it under warranty!! then he told me there is no recall on it and accuse me of just reading stuff off the internet.. WTF... anyway at this point I just dont want to talk to him anymore, so i just said forget about it and just book my oil change appointment.. then he said ok... so I asked " so its for the 11th, 815am right??"
he stared at me for like 30 secs without saying anything like i'm telling him to go **** himself...
so i said " sorry.. I forgot.."
then he said " yeh next tues" in this tone as if he i saying "yeh are you retarded or something"

so watever.. I'm going to cancel my appointment and bring my car to NorthHill even though its a 20 mins drive away...

sorry for the long rant, feeling much better now lol

I would have asked for the manager and would not waste another second with this retard. The people are much nicer at North Hill, but I will need to call back for an issue that I have with the workmanship of a recent work...

Dude, I would call up to talk to the service manager or the manager to get this guy to sweat a bit. This kind of attitude is uncalled for.

On the other hand ... love your comments: "like I kicked his dog", "retard asking 1+1", "crack addict asking for money"

Damn, that sucks...I never liked Kramer. Didn't like their sales reps and their service reps.

Sunridge service has been quite decent to me lately, had two passenger-side tails replaced lately with no complaints. Also, they put on my winter tires free of charge and checked my air filter for free as well, I don't know why...

I think i know who this is. And last time i was there i waited 20min to talk to someone else
He's a dick. If his nose was any higher in the air, he'd drown if the sprinkler system came on.
Some of them are okay.. but he ruins it completely.

Probably just pissy cause he drives a rusted out POS..?

next time just go to north hill directly. just let u know these dealership is owned by the same guy. so you can always go to northill mazda and complain it to the service manager there. i really like those mid-age people working at the service front desk, i dont know their name. There is one white mid-age guy looks kinda old but he is awesome. and there is one lady with like kinda brown hair, her attitude is just amazing. you will notice that when you talk to them. i went to kramer only once, its kinda far for me, but its not the reason why i dont wanna go there. their service sucks....

wow just back from Northhill... talked to Albert, Great guy! no trouble at all, for once it didnt feel like I was violating him under the table ( or visa versa). I mentioned how I used to go the Kramerbut the attitude there stinks too much and he just laughed as if he heard that many times before lol...
either way looking forward to dropping my car off next Tues and getting the treatment I deserve for buying the most expensive car Mazda has to offer at that time

Hate Kramer.. ever since they delivered a car that was scratched up and keeping my deposit for a month. I hate all dealerships. Although Sunridge has been treating me ok, but I don't expect quality service so if they return my car in one piece, I'm happy.

I haven't had an issue with Kramer Mazda as of yet, ask for George, he's a great guy. They replaced my sun-visor under warranty without a fuss and they were extremely friendly. If you're having issues with work that should be covered under warranty, get this in writing and contact Mazda Canada and the service manager. Just make sure you get everything in writing.

Haven't had too much of an issue with Sunridge, they cut a key for me and when I went to pickup my car the guy right away assumed I was a courier for discount rent a car and before I said anything, he said "the car you need to take back is right over there", I told him that car over there, the most expensive one you guys sell is mine. And he started treating me really really nice right after that (not that there is anything wrong with being a courier, i just didnt appreciate him assuming that immediately).

North Hill Mazda, well I haven't had an experience with their service department, but they've got to have the most shady salesman of all the dealerships in Calgary. I went in there just to show my fiancee a colour and one of their salesman tried to sell me a used 2004 for $29k. I asked him why I'd get a 3 year old car when I can get a new one for about $6k more. He goes on to say that he's never had a rx-8 in for anything other then regular maintenance. What BS. I asked him if he thought I was stupid, because on autotrader it was selling for $24k. He denied it and I pulled out my HTC touch and pulled up the autotrader website to show him, then he goes on to say its a pricing error. Will probably never go to North Hill Mazda.

George is a complete **** nut! I've had huge problems with him. Kramer doesn't give a **** about service. Kevin was the only guy there that seemed to know anything and treat customers like they weren't idiots. They are by far the worst in the city.

Getting to the original email. There are tsb's for both the redesigned brake pad and the tail light. Print them off, take them in and speak directly with the service anager. Once they are cleared up....don't go back there.

I've just learned to live with the squealing brakes. They fixed it the first time but has returned...I'm too lazy to keep going back and forth. Just turn up the radio

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin
not a recall...more like an upgrade..not safety or warranty related

US TSB's have no validity for Mazda Canada.
You can try.
Strange though as the cars all come from the same place, and Mazda Canada is under the MNAO.

Generally with some exceptions - my Mazda service experience has been really, really poor.

So poor in fact that I have most likely prevented the purchase of many mazda vehicles. I lost count at 6.

It isn't just me though - as a bit of research revealed that one time Mazda Canada after sales customer satisfaction ranked second to last - something like 31 out of 32 brands in Canada.

I have been to 7 dealers over the course of my 4 years of ownership.
I do all my own oil changes, and regular maintenance, brakes, fluids, etc..

I only go for warranty work. Which dealers HATE - as they don't make much money - we'll that is their claim anyway.

I have logged MONTHS of service work over the 4 years.

I too have experienced exactly what dying_here wrote about.

Asked to order parts - never got a call
Whenever the car was ready - vary rarely got a call to pick it up.
Paper work not ready
Asking to get detail in the report from the service advisors is like pulling teeth.
Tried to sell me things I didn't need - example brakes - yet they didn't have any measurements to back up their claims.

The list goes on.....and.....on..

And this is from a person who doesn't go unless absolutely necessary.

Of course there are some GREAT dealers out there that really look after their customers.

It seems strange as the dealers associations claim that the service department is where they make their money.

Then treat people with respect. Value their time. Listen to them. Treat their vehicles carefully.

Never had any issues with Acura dealers.

My lease is up in May. Will it be another Mazda?? Possibly. But it won't be the dealers that get my business - at least the ones that are complete morons.

Don't let them charge you anything for the headlight bulbs. The problem is caused by the DRL module, not the bulbs. I had to go through a couple rounds of this with my local f-cktards until they finally changed the DRL module and fixed the problem for good.

Why are Mazda service centers such sh-t holes? I have no idea.
