RE: Invitation to the Grand Prix of Mosport, July 22-24, 2011
OMFG...
Dear Mazda Motorsports Enthusiast,
A few months ago, you expressed an interest in getting together with Mazda Canada to discuss how we can support Mazda-powered racers in Canada. We know this is long overdue, but Mazda Canada would like to invite you and a guest to the Grand Prix of Mosport at Mosport International Raceway to see Mazda race in the Star Mazda Championship and American Le Mans Series, as well as meet with Mazda’s Motorsports Development team.
We will provide you with two free 3-day passes to the Grand Prix of Mosport, and dinner the evening of Saturday, July 23rd with Mazda Canada and Mazda’s Motorsports Development team so we can get the dialogue rolling on how we can help you.
DATES: July 22 - 24, 2011
LOCATION:
Mosport International Raceway
Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada
We hope that you will be able to join us. If you are able to attend please confirm by RSVP’ing at <website>
Regards,
Mazda Canada Team

A word of warning everyone. For the 22 years I worked for Mazda Canada at a dealership level we tried to get them to do things like this. Their response was that the level of interest from their customers was not enough to support such activities. If you dont show to this event, dont ever bitch again that Mazda Canada doesnt support owners etc etc. You need to get each and everyone of Mazda 3, 6, MX-5, RX-7 and RX-8 owners out in mass to show support for this event. If you have 10-15 people show up you probably wont be hearing from Mazda Canada again about supporting and the Canadians will look at the US and tell them "see, we told you that there is no interest here".
In other words...........DON'T F__K THIS UP!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I was reading the email at work ! My boss just approved a week off of work for me so I'll definitely be heading over to this ! I'm impressed Mazda pulled through on this, I was so sure they had forgotten the emails we sent them !

Well in that case I'll definately make sure I make it. I think it would be extra cool if we all rolled in the first day all at once. I know with some peoples schedule this may be difficult for them but anyone who wants to roll in at once could maybe meet up in Bowmanville then make the short trek the rest of the way together. I live close to Bowmanville, I could find somewhere to meet for us. I'm hoping to be back around the 17th, if there are anyone interested speak up. And I don't mean just RX8s, im talking anything Mazda. I'm not on any other site. Is there a good reation so far with the other Mazda sites?

Ya, I've got the e-mail too. Fortunately it falls within my 2 week vacation, so I'm definitely going to be there! However, I'm planning on camping, so I'll be in the truck and not the 8.
I will however bring my big-*** Mazda flag :D

P.S. if your a Mazda owner try to tag along with the registered group as eveyone is getting TWO tickets, so lets make them count. I other words don't bring your buddy who drives a Honda for a free Race weekend!

My intention from the beginning was that a group of collective voices is louder than any one or two individuals. Change can only be brought about with careful organization, repeated harassment and luck. If anyone chooses to attend then great, if you are at the meeting after the dinner and have something to contribute about Mazda Canada's support of their motorsports competitors in Canada then by all means speak up. I'm preparing a number of suggestions. Thank you to everyone who chimed in and helped me make this happen.
We are working on running the Canadian Touring Car Championship that weekend (we will be this weekend at Mosport), the Protege is looking like it will be an arrive and drive for the Toronto Indy as we're saving the 8 for World Challenge at Mid-Ohio.

RSVP'ed. Al, your such a negative nelly(lol), but I hope we don't have the usual 50% attrition rate for this event. So people please show-up this means allot to a lot of people in the Race Community as well as the enthusiast, we as Canadians could take a few lesson from the U.S.. A strong showing may show Mazda Canada that we are not the typical Canadian car owners. Let make Mazda Canada live up to the Zoom Zoom media hype in Canada and not just the U.S.

If you guys are thinking of rolling in all at once, I would suggest that the guys from TO meet up in one spot, if there are guys coming in from the east, they meet up, then roll on into Bowmanville where everyone meets together for the final 20 min up to the track. The guys coming from TO need to know when to meet cause if you are coming on Friday you'll want to make it early, you don't want to caught trying to get to Bowmanville after 3 cause traffic is ridiculous, it'll take you 1 1/2s to get from Kennedy and the 401 after 4. How many people are coming in from the east so far? Can someone set up a roll call that shows who's coming from the east and who's coming from the west so it can be organized. Whoever wants to be involved though shouldn't be backing out, everyone needs to be on time to make it all flow smoothly. I'll likely wait in the shwa since i hate dealing with TO traffic and meet up with you all even if I have to wait on the side of the road for ya..
Jason, when will you be leaving to go up? Pm me if you would like an extra hand packing up. I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.

I was just thinking about your routing to Mosport Footman. If you don't mind a suggestion I would route it across the 407 then take hwy7 the rest of the way. It'll cut the traffic slalom down a fair bit. I could maybe help with another alternate to that if you guys want to go even more of a back route.
