I don't think you'd need one...by the time you're finished brushing the snow off your car, the inside will be warm enough...

Thats not remote start, thats intentional/idiotic. You car wont slip into gear, you can only remot start in neutral.

but if its installed/set up/shut down wrong, it could be started in gear. and lets say your parking brake doesnt have a good hold in the situation, it could happen. probably not that severly, but your car could definitly bunny hop ahead for a bit until it hits something solid.

wrong, maybe if you go with crappy tire stuff. I use compustar. The kit is wired to your neutral switch, if not you have to set it in reservation mode because its manual.

Reservation mode involves: car in neutral, apply brake and hold, put ebrake up, let go of brake pedal, "click" indicating halfway there, pull out key, car still running, get out, car still running, close door, car shuts off, buzzes pager to confirm remote start has been set up. if you open any door from then til you start it cancels it. trunk is okay to open and close in between.

These guys are engineers, they know what their doing. Cant mess it up.

essentially you cant start it in gear, wont send the command, and compustar is contracted to certified shops, who have liability in the install.

I'm reading the link, see Automate, wtf is that?

I only use reputable stuff.

The only issue my alarm gives me is the prox sensor, but thats because its meant for convertibles.

And compustar offers a turbo timer, i dont have a turbo, but if i need to move the car and not wait around for it to warm up/prevent flood, i can engage that as i get out, and it runs the car for a set interval preventing flood.

I thought it all out, Kaffka your scare tactics dont worth.

Remote start is already a crap idea.
Waste irreplaceable fossil fuel, and pollute even more, to warm our asses a few seconds earlier? Bah.

Why, are you driving a Rx8 if you care so much about the enviroment?

go get yourself a prius, or better yet ride a bike...

LOl, +1

Not only do we get horrible gas mileage AND require premium, but we are also driving the only car designed to burn oil!

The thing with starting our cars, you need to hold the ignition until it catches, otherwise if you let go halfway you'll flood the engine.
Is there any risk the computstar auto start feature would mess up and screwjob your engine?
Or have you been using an auto start for years with your car without any problems?

I've ran the Compustar for a year now. Havent flooded it yet. You can program the Compustar to overcrank, like crank further than it would in a piston engine, if you still have the older starter. Mine doesnt start till the second crank. It cranks once, no go, cranks again and there we go. I assume it adds more crank the second time, till the engine cranks. You can if you want, program it to crank harder the first time, the mechanics didnt want to do that, in case of damage to the engine, but they don't really no our engines with our shitty starters.

I dont mind it, since you hit start on the pager, it will crank till it starts and then send you confirmation, also I believe it is set to crank only 3 times as a default.
