Hey guys, I'm interested in buying a RX-8 and while I was looking at the Canadian and American website I noticed that in the American site a black exterior is available with black & red interior.....but in the Canadian site they only have a black interior for a black exterior..... now is this real or is it a glitch in the Canadian site????

you cant choose the interior of an 8 in Canada (as people have already said) i enquired about this at the dealership too, and they told me it was because they make them as 2 packages (GS & GT) GS = black cloth GT = black leather except on the red and titanium. that way they can ship without having to account for different combinations (at least thats what i was told)

the GS is base model. and if you want one option thats in the GT model, you buy the GT. single things like that, i dont think they do. if you want the moonroof (yup, you guessed it), GT. its all a money-making gimmick...

My dealer (Park Mazda Sherwood Park) told me when I bought RED is the only color available now with a 2 tone interior ( red black) The brochure still shows the Titanium Grey Metallic as available with a BLACK/TAUPE combo but apparently this is something of the past for Canadians in the 2005 modelyear as well.
red is faster though......I agree

Sorry man, red's are just faster. I believe it has something to do with the paint. I'm not to sure but my dealer said that the red paint adds 20hp, and I believe everything the dealer says. He wouldn't have just said that to sell me the car would he!!!

Sorry Danielson, but RXMAN is right. Didn't you read about that review of all the RX-8 in different colours 2 months ago ? The Red ones has 20hp over the other RX-8s. The silver one is the slowlest because the material of the paint adds a full 0.125 to the wind drag. Do a search and you will see.

We were comparing all different air filter and mods done to the car, my friend Helas can tell you this is all too real, he did used my video camera...Anyway, if you want to try it, name a place and a time, I will show you if red is actually faster than silver...because so far, it didn't happend to me, I can also tell you the maximum of the RX8 is 253 km/h and then the converner stop the car.
I love driving my RX8, I don't mind driving to Toronto just for show

Naah see, that's when you are wrong. If you read the Yamaguchi book, then you will know that the special Velocity Red paint adds at least 20hps to the engine and the higher drag Sunlight Silver paint helps absorb the sunlight but reducing the performance of the engine because now the cam shaft needs to operate at a higher temperature. Take a look and you will see. You don't think those paint names are just marketing statements do you ?
Besides, that new anti-silver-curse TSB (J Flash) only applies to sunlight silvers while the rest of the people don't need it .... so clearly Red is better than silver.
RXMAN, feel free to jump in and give your 2 cents.

see, that's the problem. You didn't read the Yamaguchi book about the horsepower enchancing paint that they use. The book documents everything from the design all the way from the ground up. I'm sure they've done a whole lot more testing than just a few dynos.
Helas and the rest of the guys probably were going easy on the throttle when they were dyno'ing their cars. Since your Silver was close by, they might be worrying that their cars might fly off the dyno and get into an accident with yours.
